Boko Haram Releases Wife Of Cameroonian Deputy Prime Minister, 10 Others. by unuane1(m): 6:42am On Oct 10, 2014
Boko Haram militants have released the
wife of Cameroonian Vice Prime
Minister Amadou Ali, ten Chinese
workers and district heads kidnapped a
few months ago.
The kidnap victims were released today
after intense tripartite negotiations
involving Cameroon, Chinese interests,
and representatives of the Islamist
group. A source in Cameroon disclosed
that a hefty but undisclosed ransom
was paid to the Islamist militants.
SaharaReporters confirmed that Mrs.
Ali, who was abducted by the militants
in July, had arrived in Yaounde, the
capital of Cameroon, following her
release.
Our Cameroonian sources also
disclosed that Boko Haram militants
also released at least 10 Chinese
workers abducted in Cameroon as well
as a district head and his children.
Mrs. Ali was abducted in July in
Kolofata, a town in the far north region
of Cameroon. The terrorist group killed
three persons in the operation to abduct
the wife of such a major Cameroonian
government official.
Although the Cameroonian government
had given the impression that the Vice
Prime Minister's wife had been rescued
by the country's military, the woman
remained in captivity until today.
Cameroonian government officials are
expected to address the media
tomorrow regarding the release of Mrs.
Ali and several other victims of
abduction.

This news is contradictory. The Cameroon Army claimed earlier that they had rescued the PMs wife...
CAMEROONIAN security forces have carried out a successful rescue of the wife of deputy prime minister Amadou Ali who was abducted by Boko Haram terrorists in the northern town of Kolofata over the weekend.

On Sunday, Boko Haram gunmen attacked
Kolofata abducting Mrs Ali and a local
religious leader or lamido, named as Seini
Boukar Lamine, who is also the town's
mayor. Deputy prime minister Ali had been at home to celebrate the Muslim feast of
Ramadan with his family but was taken
unawares by the suddenness of the attack.
Following the attack, Colonel Felix Nji
Formekong, the second commander of
Cameroon's third inter-army military region,
based in the regional headquarters Maroua,
said that Cameroonian soldiers were taking
the terrorists on. He added that they had
Boko Haram fighters penned in the town and were engaging them in a gun battle.

After three days of fighting it appears that
the Cameroonian military has now over-
powered the insurgents and rescued their
victim. It is believed that about six people
died during the rescue operations that lasted several hours.

Unlike their Nigerian counterparts, the
Cameroonian Army has not been infiltrated
by Boko Haram insurgents, so are more
effective in fighting the terrorists. Because
Nigeria's military has been compromised by
the presence of Boko Haram moles,
information on operations is regularly fed to the terrorists, who subsequently lay
ambushes for the soldiers.

Problems like this have prevented the
Nigerian Army from conducting a successful
rescue operation to release the over 200
Government Girls Secondary School Chibok
pupils abducted by Boko Haram on April 14.

Cameroon on the other hand has been more
successful, having deployed more than 1,000 soldiers along its border to help combat the terrorists.
