ACCORD Party Senator representing Oyo
South Senatorial District, Senator Olufemi
Lanlehin, has expressed confidence that
his party will win between 75 and 90 per
cent of the state House of Assembly seats
in the 2015 election and form the next
government.
Lanlehin, who spoke in an interview with
newsmen shortly after picking Accord’s
expression of interest form to run for a
senatorial seat, said his confidence was
informed by the state-wide acceptability
of the party as witnessed during the week
and the love of the masses for the
national leader of the party, Senator
Rashidi Ladoja.
According to Lanlehin, “The passion
exhibited by the citizens of Oyo State all
across- from Ibadan to Ibarapa, Iseyin,
Okeho, Ogbomosho- is exhilarating. We
saw the happiness on the faces of the
people for the national leader of the party,
Senator Rashidi Ladoja, which shows that
he still connects with the people.
“I can tell you that the tour this week,
where we also welcomed leaders of the
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the
All Progressives Congress (APC) into
Accord Party has put a lie to the
statement that Ladoja is only popular in
Ibadan. His popularity cuts across the
whole of the state and I say this with all
sincerity and on my honour.
“If you compare Senator Ladoja’s
administration and the current one, and I
have no apology for saying this, Senator
Ladoja seemed to have placed more
premium on human factor, while not
neglecting infrastructural development,”
he said.
On his speculated defection to the PDP
widely circulated on social media, Senator
Lanlehin said the rumour emanated from
the camp of “mischief-makers”, adding
that “they are not happy that one is not
with them and they will do everything to
play mischief.”
“I don’t want to dignify the issue with my
response. It is idle talk; it is far from
truth,” he said.
Aboderin, in his own remarks, said from
his interaction with the people on the
streets, market men and women as well
as the masses of the state, it had
become evident that they want a change
in 2015 through Accord Party.
“The people of Ibadan South-East, Ibadan
North-East Federal Constituency, which is
my constituency, love Accord and they
love me too. At the moment, those of us
who are members of the party are happy
as things are going now.
“In Oyo State, we are not where we
should be among the comity of states.
We ought to be at the number position as
pace-setters. We have the record of
establishing many firsts- the first
university, the first stadium and others.
But see where we are today as a result of
leadership problem. Senator Ladoja is the
man of the masses because his party is
