SCAM ALERT: Please Beware Of These two Gsm lines & Bank Accounts On Olx by goldendiamond(m): 3:01am On Oct 12, 2014
Scammers are everywhere but its so sad olx has bcom a safe haven for them. I was almost duped last month. Av been calling this laptop seller I met on olx for weeks and we agreed to meet. We agreed at 15k and I was to buy 12pcs at 180k. Hp and Acer mini laptop(2g ram/320g hard disk). He first told me to pay and it will be delivered by fedex and I said no since we haven't transacted before. He insisted but I told him to pay is not a problem that after this deal I will be paying into his account for delivery.

He then told me to come to badagry and I told him I can't that he should send someone with the product and I will pay for delivery, he said no that if I really need it I will have to come down. Four days later I drove down for over 2hours from ogba ikeja. On getting to badagry the guy said I should come to seme border. I drove for another one hour. He told me to park at "ecowas" building at seme border then this guy switched off his phone. I waited for over 45minutes then someone called me claiming to be a dispatch driver telling me to pay N10,000 into an account so he can bring the laptops from the warehouse. I asked what was the cash for after stressing myself down to seme border why all this nonsense.

He then said he was sorry that the other guy is his boss that the 10,000 is for car fuel and delivery that it will be deducted from the 180,000. I said no that he should come with the 12 laptops and I will pay him the full cash. He then said how much can I afford for his car fuel that I can send 5,000 and he will come over within 15minutes.

Then I deceived him and told him to send his bank account which he did. I told him I don't want UBA and he didn't respond so I called another laptop seller from olx and he played the same badagry/seme format then I told him I was at seme now and he said he was on his way. Told him to send his account details and he sent a keystone bank account. I then called and abused him and he cut off the line. I sent text messages to both of them and threatened to fish them out.

So my people I advice you to ignore all cheap laptop and car adverts on olx. They are all scammers. Beware of this two bank accounts.

One thing I noticed is that their voice don't sound like their names. They didn't have an accent from western or southern nigeria. Some even sounded like people from cotonou and togo. They are confirmed fraudsters. I was almost a victim. However I have also met genuine traders on olx. Last month I bought four laptops, two gsm handsets and a mtn hynet modem from true biz men. But 80% of olx adverts are all scam. When they tell you they are at badagry, apapa or alaba pls just ignore please.

Shine your eyes my people. Its so sad and painful after all the stress down to badagry and seme border. Its these people that are spoiling our country's image. May God heal our land ijn. God bless Nigeria...

I owe you one! You are a smart Nigerian.
But you misbehave small, why would you waste time energy and costly fuel to go to the border na? The moment you heard/read Badagry, you should have just concluded it was scam. The fact that Badagry is a bordering town make them (scammers) believe its too far for some lagosians and that's why they are able to scam.

Thanks for sharing

Lest I forget, next time you suspect any OLX advert, just tell the person you live in Badagry. He would be thrown off balance and may be stupid to name a location nearer you in actual fact.

You have the account numbers,u can set a trap use the acc number to catch them,at least wen they want to withdraw they will come out to do so,let d bank trace the branch where the acc is opration and the police will do the rest.

I just checked out the two phone numbers.

The first one was registered with Tunde as the first name and the second One had "Ego Laptop" as its registered name.

Please don't fall victims to all these scammers on olx. The owner of olx should find a way to validate each post before uploading. Any advert with a ridiculous price should be deleted. Imagine posting a 2009 toyota rav4 for N450,000. And you see it on the site every single day.why can't they come on nairaland because they know the mods will ban them immediately. Ceo of Olx pls do sometn pls

My brother I never wanted to go and I didn't go alone. I was with a cousin that lives in badagry(he is a pastor there). And is very familiar with the location. Contrary to what u are thinkin that may be badagry is like a small village. It is crowded like oshodi and even on getn to the seme border we met a massive crowd of traders, shuttle drivers and custom officers. So you won't even feel lonely at all.

The scammers also told us they get the goods from custom officers(which is quite true because they auction goods often)at tincan island. I called one of the numbers again now(with a different gsm line) and the guy is givin me same old format. That "jerry oseh" guy is a die hard fraudster. Once bitten twice shy. May God deliver them

Pls how did u know his full name
there's a little software for that that reveals the full name just with the account number. (this is a clue, I won't explain further lest they change tactics)

He probably cleared his facebook and twitter profile

OLX is the den of scammers, though I have bought two cars, phones and other items successfully from the site.
I recently bought two German rugs from one Osagie in Benin, dude was honest and waybilled the said rugs to me through Goddy Edosa Motors.
Any ad with Badagry and Apapa as location are potential SCAM.

This is a good lesson to all of us who are not sensitive to detect fraud.olx is really a fraud gang website. They have tried time without number to dupe me.im a car dealer, most times dey they post car location to be in lagos.when i called, the first question they will ask is where i am.if i say lagos, they will tell me that d car was taking to ogun state yesterday for a buyer to see it.That if i want to see d car,i should pay 10k for fueling so that they bring it back to lagos for me to see.The last incident happen in abuja.i ask d man why he want to sale d camry so cheap,he said dat his son is seriously ill & he want to tak him to hospital.he sent a number to me with his acc info.he said d number belong to his driver who wil bring d car to me.so after a while,d number stop connecting, wen i cal d man he said that millitary pple arrested his driver on his way to my car stand.I laugh. He said i shuld pls send 100k to his acc so day he can bail d driver n d car and bring it yo me.pls olx owner should do something abt d fraud stars in his website.

Nawa for u o my brother so na wetin u go talk be this. These brand of mini laptops sell for between 25k and 30k at computer village. I get laptops at cheap rates from enugu state(my contact there imports from china/dubai, I pay into his acct and it is sent to lagos. I run adverts in newspapers(complete sports and sporting life), nairaland, facebook and same olx. and people pay into our acct and we send to them.

As a biz man you av to be adventurous (sometimes in a week I can shuttle four different states for different programs - check my nairaland profile for a topic in business section), if I didn't go to badagry how will I find out they are confirmed scammers, how will I av gotn their bank acct numbers and how will you find out my discovery here on nairaland.

Remember I said I av a cousin there who is a pastor.he convinced me to come. 15k each for 12 mini laptops is not awoof oo, it all depends on your source my brother. Thank you

WHY WOULDN'T THEY DECEIVE YOU, WHEN WE NIGERIANS INCLUDING ME ALWAYS WANT CHEAP ARTICLE. YOU DON'T KNOW COMPUTER VILLAGE IKEJA ETC. I DEAL ON CARS AND I DO POST MY CARS ON OLX AND SOME PEOPLE WILL CALL YOU AND START PRICING A CAR THAT GOES FOR #1M+ FOR #400K, TELLING YOU THAT YOUR CARS ARE ALWAYS EXPENSIVE THAT THEY SAW SOME FOR 400K AND 300K. THERE IS ALWAYS A PRICE FOR CHEAP ARTICLES IT MAY COME IN ANOTHER FORM. ALWAYS INSIST ON INSPECTION BEFORE PAYMENT. ONLINE MARKET IS NOT A PLACE FOR CHEAP ARTICLES RATHER IT IS FOR AN EASY SHOPPING AND GETTING MORE OPTIONS.....
