Please I need nairalanders to comment on why FUTO Graduates seem to dominate the big engineering firms in Nigeria. Factually, They always outperform every school every year in engineering test. SITP Results have consistently had Futo guys dominating the result sheet. Each year, the results of Shell, Mobil, Halliburton, Total, Schlumberger etc, tests always have FUTO graduates having the highest sucess rates. Even in EXXONMobil Lagos where UNILAG and maybe IFE graduates are expected to dominate, FUTO old boys are the highest in population. In schlumberger it is said that whenever a new FUTO graduate is employed his older colleagues echo welcome to FUTO alumni!!!. Shell PortHacourt is the worst. Why is it So?

Yes i think the reason why FUTO graduates the engineering firm is becos futo is basically known as an engineering school where the heart beat of engineering courses are treated to the last drop with lots of practicals and less theories.

When you tends to employ graduates ina ny firm you'll realize that FUTOs are the first choice of applicants to be emplyed becos they;ve been know to have been engineered to great output.

They dominate because of the training they are given by their tutors. its not just engineering, the physical sciences also. when i was in niger i used to think it was a niger thing. But even in uk from petroleum geosciences and engineering in Imperial thru manchester and Heriot watt to RGU, Futo graduates are flying the flag at the postgrad levels. They have the highest no of candidates doing oil related courses in the uk. Maybe its just that extra stuff they receive from their lecturers "The sky is the limit with hard work". I did not finish from futo, but i hail.

Where did you get your test results and employment figures statistics from? I think you just thought of a way to promote your school and decided to post this. If FUTO guys dominate in engineering and are everywhere like you said, then where are the graduates of all the other universities engineering faculties working or doing PG? Let me even ask you, how many engineering graduates does FUTO produce each year

I know some FUTO graduates and they are no doubt good in engineering, but do not blow trumpets here.There are loads of other universities engineering graduates in Oil & Gas and Telecoms companies.

You should realise that there are few universities that offer the petroleum engineering course and FUTO is one of them, so why would its students not feature in PG in UK schools? And whereas, most of the non petroleum engineering graduates from the school would also want to work in Oil & Gas hence may decide to do courses in petroleum.
