ilugunboy:You're being economical with the truth. Same old Ilugun boy, you'll never change. I asked you a question, and your response was apparently briddled. Let me ask the question again. When has a Yoruba son - since the days of Adeniran Ogunsanya in the 2nd republic - contested under a pro-Igbo party whether accidentally or consciously? When. Mind you Achebe's book though sentimental was not the defining occurrence that shaped Igbo/Yoruba relationship, if I may use you words. Achebe only unearthed the facade behind a so-called friendly relationship eating our fabrics secretly. |

fairheven:Bro....in politics you get what you worked for and not what you think you are entitled to. In my opinion, SW have earned the right above any other zones. |

Chiwude:See the link and clear your doubt about Yorubas contesting under pro-igbo party....http://dailyindependentnig.com/2012/11/south-east-apga-leaders-not-fair-to-the-party-sowunmi/ The problem with such parties is that they try more to emphasis their regional tendencies than a national tendencies..thus others will be more or less like strangers in their midst. Let's not derail the thread anyway but concentrate on the germane issues here...you are free to open a separate thread to argue on what you claimed. |

ilugunboy:APC will never chose its vice from the southwest, because that wud mean "dea-on-arrival"fortheparty in the East..they know better than you,so they won't even try it,that's to tell you ,is not how hard you work, but about interest an "alignment" |

fairheven: ![]() So you think the overwhelming sentiment will change overnight if APC agrees to risk the position to SE? As it is...the party have little or no chance in the SE....and they would be deluded if they think ceding the VP position to SE will change anything. Once the party do the SWOT analysis of each of the VP candidates....the SW candidates will always edge out others. Dude..quit the joke already. ![]() |

ilugunboy:lol keep telling use about the internet and your opinion. I just showed you the number of actual supporters and your still stuck on 'nobody in the southwest will support GEJ' because of nairaland Igbo v. Yoruba threads. Even if Buhari wins the SW entirely, if PDP gets 25% in every 'apc state' while securing the SE and SS with similar margins as last time they'll still muster a sizable majority and APC doesn't have the resources to mount 90% wins in every state. |

hmmm, quite a logical arguments i hav witnessd on nairaland. insults and abuse reduced to bearest mimimal. i belive in attacking arguments instead of persons. the stakes for electioneering are high and sampled public opinions on the web is the best as witnesd in advanced countries. should this election be free and fair,i see a greater Nigeria. Notwithstanding, having adoptd buhari as the man fearless to tackle coruption and indiscipline in nigeria, choosing a VP wil not b dificult. whether its fashola, or okorocha, i jst want change. if pdp wins dis election nxt yr, it wil be that without pdp nobody can win election thats why if u opose theirs failings they kick u out. i am not happy with the level of zigzag in this country. let Apc consult well with leaders of SW and SE to see who gathers more suports. Apc must also use statistics of previous election results to knw who to pick God bless APC God bless Nigeria |

Ikengawo:If PDP can garner 25% in opposition states, then APC can do the same by your logic. In that case, with APC's strongholds and 25% from it's opposing states, it should take PDP to the cleaners. |

ASL33:I never said anything about any non performer, you can find performers that can bring votes. |

Ikengawo:PDP would defintley win ondo and ekiti even parts of osun would vote GEJ ile-ife area cos I skuled in OAU. So with ogun. There is no way APC would completeley win SW leave the trolls election is not worn on nairaland. I know many yourba ppl who hate johnathan but hates buhari far worse. And to crown it they can neva trust an igbo man. Let APC dare field okorocha GEJ strolls away with victory. |

| Re: 2015: Buhari, APC Woo Okorocha For VP by Ikengawo: 9:48pm On Oct 16, 2014 |
Asoozy:You're missing the mark. APC can do that, but APC doesn't have 2 two region bloc (SS SE) that, before, and again will vote GEJ in the +90% range. if APC gets 25% in PDP strong hold states, they'll still loss. |
| Re: 2015: Buhari, APC Woo Okorocha For VP by Ikengawo: 9:59pm On Oct 16, 2014 |
ilugunboy:because it's only on Nairaland and in Igbo v. Yoruba threads that the notion of Yoruba people being anti PDP is even mentioned. There's no election in the SW where PDP and APC aren't neck and neck and Jonathan's presence has only helped, not hurt, candidates. Buhari hasn't addressed the issues that caused him to lose last time and he's ready to go for a FOURTH TIME. The average Yoruba man believe Buhari is a waste of time like the average Igbo. The idea that the region is 'against' GEJ is foolish. There's a higher percentage of ppl that are against him in the SW than other southern regions but that region is met with an near equal amount of ppl that like him. |

I love the argument in this thread as someone said, senseless tribal statement is very minimal here. I just want to say in all honesty that APC should really sit down and re-strategize because they would loose to the president in this election. They should start planning for 2019 election. Also, they should drop this hateful antagonistic approach instead they should be a constructive opposition. They should come out with a clear manifesto and they should pick out things that they want to champion. |

oduaboy1:perfect timing, perfect calculation, the north is already in Buharis pocket, the south west has already eairlier on alienated itself from PDP and will always cling to APC. forget what you read on papers and the internet, igbos arw just interested in who brings them closer to aso rock and could care less about GEJ who everybody agrees has perfomed woefully. If Buhari chooses Rochas Okoroacha as running mate, the sentimental ibos i know will abandon GEJ sinking PDP ship and migrate to Buhari Rochas( which mind u i think is also a foolish ticket). if this is the case what will southwest do? it will be too late for them to try and strike a bargain with PDD and GEJ and we know the would not give up on APC, the most they can do is wait for a Fashola for president come 2023. Remember Zik and Belewa NCNC/NCP romance ? Shagari ekwueme ticket?..... same is about to repeat itself. that in itself is the only thing that would pasuade the SE that Buhari is not their enemy and u will agree that the Southeasterners were responsible for him losing to GEJ in 2011. i just pray neither GEJ nor BUHARI wins... let The right man with the will , vision and wisdom to correct this country come irrespective of his tribe. |

Asoozy:to acheive what? the west is already in APCs pocket since it is considered that the party belongs to them. the game here is to capture the SE from GEJ and PDP which will ensure APC wins the next Presidential elections. my question to you sir is, if GMB/ORO ticket flies would the south west concede to GEJ? form an alliance with SS? you know the answer. the best SW will do is wait for 2023 (Fashola/northern christian ticket)which is their best bet and a good move(south east will be again left behind and PDP ultimately destroyed. If APC wants to take PDP down they must be ready to make hard choices, deploy long term strategies and stay focused , detribalised and patient. they must also guve Nigerians what they are aching for at every possible chance which is good governance. |
| Re: 2015: Buhari, APC Woo Okorocha For VP by Asoozy: 11:57pm On Oct 16, 2014 |
shady26:You don't get it. The SW is the deciding region because it is not religiously homogenic and it's citizens are not analy partisan unlike other regions. The only way you can guarantee at least a 50% vote from the SW is if you field a meritorious Yoruba man either as a presidential candidate or vice. While Yorubas might be slow to act to some, the always wait for the perfect moment to strike when the rod is hot. So do not for a second think the Yorubas have forgotten about the Achebe's insult or Peter Obi's claim that Lagos is a no man's land or the ohasneze calling APC the amala party. We never forget. Those incidences have sealed the Igbo fate in the west. The west will not touch an ibo candidacy with the longest barge poll. Now tell me why Buhari will want to risk an assured success in the west for a near impossible victory in a region so clannish and vendetta driven? He would be shooting himself in the foot. The only way out for Buhari is to admit defeat in the east and work hard at getting overwhelming support from the west. Whatever he does, the SE will not vote for him. If the Souteast can refuse to vote it's greatest son ojukwu into presidency, it sure will not turn a stone for a northerner, worst still, a Muslim. |
