i sat down on my own on tuesday morning (4th nov), then i received a message from mtn congratulating me that i've just been give 100mb, valid for 7 days! I was so surprised and checked the bonus mb by dialling *559*4#, and lo and behold, 100mb was just smilling at me..(hmm, big boy things for my mind. Lol).

I settled down, planned like jose mourinho on how to use the mb under 7 days (am browsing with nokia asha 206). I flexed the mb like mad on some sites like nairaland, exploring almost all sections.

I check my mb as at yesterday (thursday, 6th nov.)and still had 65mb! Wow! Still flexing it.. All of a sudden, i can't browse with my phone again! Chai!! I thought it was network, so i switched off my phone and on it back but no changes. (Hmmm... Watin happen na?)
then i decided to check my mb. Lo and behold, that 65mb has transformed to zero mb! (Hmm,what a Magical surprise!) i switched of my phone, removed my battery and two sim cards, blew breeze on my sim, waited for some munites and then switched it on..
I waited another munite for my phone to pickup data connection, then i checked the mb again, still zero mb. What went wrong na?.. I dialed 180 sharp sharp to speak with their customer care. The lady was telling me that i don't have any mb, i've used it up.
'used it up?' i asked her. I tried letting her know that am using java phone, and there is no way i could have used up 100mb under 3 days without downloading anything. She was telling me sorry and all those their long english.
I hanged up and called 180 again, when their customer care agent pick again, same story! I tried to explain to her, but she was saying that their system won't lie, that i have exhausted my bonus mb.. Chai! So am the one telling lies abi?
We argued for some time, then i hanged up on her.


It's not as if am trying to discredit mtn, neither am i supporting any network service provider but am just telling the truth! Why give me the 100mb surprise data in the first place and make me plan like jose morinho on how to use it up under 7 days?
Or is it part of the surprise? Am not happy o! Has anybody witnessed something similar?

Same thing here. After the 100mb flashed on my phone a day later I started browsing immediately.


Sadly out of the 100mb I only used about 25mb because mtn in their wayo ways start deducting tenths of megabytes automatically whether or not you use your phone. Good thing I downloaded songs sha because I can brag I used the oshofri data to do something useful.


The data bonus only lasted 3 days on my phone too so it should be a normal thing.

They do it every time and then they apologize each time..... They should just shut up and say nothing after misbehaving cos it makes it worse #MTNSupriseMyfoot

*quickly log-out of nairaland, to go check my free 79mb*. If them try deduct am ehh

In as much as i see them as a very good network provider.(if not da best)

They gAve me 100MB yesterday, when I saw this post I checked it everything Was vanished witHout using it..... MTN is not mean for Nigeria.

no b small thing.......my own is dat they said I shud enter Mtn jara plus or whatever they call it and I will receive 200% of whatever I recharge....
nah so ah come enter sharp sharp but to my greatest surprise,my airtime was been deducted like say tomorrow no deh.....if they give me #200 bonus, they will charge me at d rate of #30 or so per minute instead of #9/min........nah so ah come regret why I even entered dat silly tariff....... I had to recharge again and re-enter ipulse and they took my #100.....Mtn no b am for one day ....they will give u with one hand and take it back with d other hand

Got it yesterday on my second sim. Updated subway surf and did some surfing and was left with 59mb. Checked account balance as connection failed when I tried to browse this morning only to find 0mb. Was not surprised and didn't bother since it's eMpTyN's season of surprise data.

Plzz don't get MTN wrong. They say use for seven days. lol! Promo started on saturday and ended on friday (today). MTN doing their 419 surprises since 1960.
