I'll understand if Nigeria is engaged in quiet diplomacy and covert ops, where we don't talk, but destroy Boko Haram's ability to wage war, we don't. I'll understand if BH is imploding from within and it's ability to wage war is diminishing by the day, it isn't. What I'll never understand is how a psychopath like Shekau publicly and gleefully notifies the world that he is about to deal with Nigeria, and then right before our eyes, successfully carries out his threats In the last 6 months, Nigeria has lost at least 6 military bases to BH, Nigeria has captured exactly ZERO of Boko Haram's. In the last 6 months, Nigeria has has lost numerous towns and villages to BH and retaken and held exactly ZERO. In the last 6 months, over 500 schoolgirls have been abducted by BH and Nigeria has recovered exactly NONE. Today alone, over 50 school children were killed by a suicide bomber in Yobe State, and from all indications, Nigeria has reduced BH's ability to carry out similar acts by exactly ZERO %. So what is the point of having a government that is supposed to provide security for all its citizens? Are there two classes of people in Nigeria? The poor forgotten masses whose only accident is being born at the wrong time in the wrong place and everyone else? Or are all Nigerians equal and deserve the same protection under the law? I would like to think its the latter not the former. Furthermore, while it is understandable that people outside the NE carry on as if nothing is happening, it is neither understandable or excusable that the man who has taken the oath below (twice) is neglecting what he swore (hand on the Bible) to do: "I, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan do solemnly swear/affirm that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to the Federal Republic of Nigeria; that as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I will discharge my duties to the best of my ability, faithfully and in accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the law, and always in the interest of the sovereignty, integrity, solidarity, well-being and prosperity of the Federal Republic of Nigeria..." Ultimately, if GEJ and the rest of his administration don't wake up right now, and completely destroy Boko Haram's ability to inflict damage , unfortunately, what is now considered a small fire shall become an inferno that shall consume the whole nation... Jonathan's failure in containing this crisis is mind boggling and it is beginning to border between extreme cluelessness and deliberate sabotage! How would the military be so easily chased by a largely inexperienced fighting force? In patience words those bloods they are sharing will be answered for! No matter how biased and jaundiced a mind becomes, one day it will answer God's judgement no matter how long it takes! |

Collynzo22:I would still talk against abuses. The Nigerian Army and Boko Haram should not be competing over who commits the worst abuse. Unprofessionalism is what happened in some of those places like Bama where so many homes were scorched. There are far better ways to fight. So if you think, there should be no regard for innocent civilians, we can never agree. We will agree on the fact that BH should be crushed but I choose efficiency in doing that. |

The Nigerian army led by another Chief of Army staff are now abiding by the ''rules of engagement'' as you advised why are you complaining now? Hahaha tbaba1234: |

tbaba1234:Yeah can you tell us the magic formula the military can use in flusing out boko haram without any civilian casualty? Especially with all the hostages and residents of their captured towns. |
| Re: Gej Wake Up And Destroy Boko Haram - @mrayedee by Nobody: 9:25pm On Nov 10, 2014 |
Collynzo22:I am not talking about civilian casualties, i am talking about abuses. And it has nothing to do with religion. Up till today, Igbos complain about the abuses of the Nigerian Army in Biafra and rightly so. Let us be sincere with ourselves. |

tbaba1234:Really? What abuses were you talking about below? tbaba1234: |

Collynzo22:That was not the only thing said on that thread, was it? Blaming elders for calling against the murder of their people is silly... The Nigerian security operatives should have an intelligence unit that helps them infiltrate the group network... Killing innocent people will help Boko Haram more than it will help Nigeria.. Emotion is their most effective tool of recruitment. The kind of abuse as above. |

tbaba1234:I don't have the patience for diversions. Tell us exactly what you meant by the below at a time when the Nigerian Army led by Gen. ihejirija were decisivelt dealing with boko haram. tbaba1234: |
| Re: Gej Wake Up And Destroy Boko Haram - @mrayedee by Nobody: 9:50pm On Nov 10, 2014 |
Collynzo22:I think, it is written in English. i. The BH group escalated as a result of abuse by security forces. ii. The suggestion was to understand the roots of the crisis and seek a solution which could involve a mix of guns and other non violent methods. That is based on my understanding of the crisis at the time. I also think the successes of Ihejirika are been overrated, Boko Haram started pushing back in his own tenure. |
| Re: Gej Wake Up And Destroy Boko Haram - @mrayedee by Collynzo22: 10:11pm On Nov 10, 2014 |
tbaba1234:1. By abuse you mean being dealt with decisively by the military. Killing a group of people who kill innocent citizens for no just cause, to you is abuse. What does the ''violence begets violence'' in that quote mean? The military carrrying out their constitutional duties by crushing a rebel group is what you term violence? 2. By ''non-violent'' methods you mean dialogue which you clearly stated in that post, isn't that what the government is currently doing by trying to talk then into a ceasefire? Why are you complaining now? You don't want dialogues anymore, I guess. Your understanding of the crisis at that time which was in tandem with that of most northern elders and politicians is why the insurgency has ecalated to what it is now, I am sorry you have to live with it because it is already too late. All you need to do now is to accept responsibility for the role you played in allowing this problem get to the level it is now. Yes Boko haram started pushing back in Ihejirika's tenure because of those of you who were accusing him of high handedness amd genocide in dealing with a bunch of killers, he had to soft pedal a bit which gave them the chance to push back. The present Army Chief has perfected the act of treating then with kids glove, which is what you and most prominent northerners wers asking for. Enjoy the monster you nurtured. |

Collynzo22:Stop being silly, Abuse is the murder of innocents by the military. The violence by the military and extra-judicial killings turned Boko Haram into the monster, it is today. The constitutional duty is protecting Nigerians from rebels not scorching homes of the innocent people. That is an abuse of that duty. BH are killing people. Army are killing people... So who is the good guy? There has to be a level of professionalism. By ''non-violent'' methods you mean dialogue which you clearly stated in that post, isn't that what the government is currently doing by trying to talk then into a ceasefire? Why are you complaining now? You don't want dialogues anymore, I guessComplaining is about the obvious failures of government. Government should not be declaring cease-fire when BH is seizing land. It is pure lunacy. Dialogue can only be from a position of strength. Your understanding of the crisis at that time which was in tandem with that of most northern elders and politicians is why the insurgency has ecalated to what it is now, I am sorry you have to live with it because it is already too late. The violence escalated because of the failures of the military and Government, not views of people expressed. That is why it escalated. I am not the commander in chief of Nigeria's armed forces, i can only contribute views on nairaland. The people who should accept responsibility are those in the corridors of power. Yes Boko haram started pushing back in Ihejirika's tenure because of those of you who were accusing him of high handedness amd genocide in dealing with a bunch of killers, he had to soft pedal a bit which gave them the chance to push back. The present Army Chief has perfected the act of treating then with kids glove, which is what you and most prominent northerners wers asking for.Was there high-handedness? Yes. Kid gloves?? Asking for efficiency is kid gloves?? Maybe the lives of northerners does not mean much to you but they are humans too. The military can not be abusing the people that pay them. |
