ujoinme:No one is saying Governor Akpabio has not done well. That fact can not be contested. Akpabio has many projects to his records because there are lots to be done. He has done alot but there is still a lot more to be done!! Because the money is there does not mean we should spend it on "infrastructures" that would end up being a burden. And I dare say many stadiums in the country including the "kiosk" at surulere are such to their respective owners (the govt). We have seen the National stadiums in Lagos and Abuja when they decay before government starts renovating them again....It would be the same with Akwa Ibom stadium..it is not self-sustaining..and the state government would have to keep paying almost forever to maintain it. It is such a beautiful stadium!! A Nations Cup qualifier going to be played there..just like the last time we played Sudan in Abuja..(the fans came in for free to support the team..and that's the only match the N63bn Abuja stadium has hosted this year)..Even if fans pay to watch the Eagles play in Uyo..with the low income of many of the people in the state as attested to by the governor himself..how much are they going to pay to see the game?..and would that be enough to maintain the stadium for several months before it ever hosts another game?..Where is the football team in Akwa Ibom that can attract a 30,000 crowd weekly to keep the stadium busy and pay for itself?..The Eagles have been playing most of their matches in Calabar..did that earn the state enough money to at least re-grass the pitch of the stadium?..The answer is No..on the contrary the state was even paying a lot of money to host the team and the NFF.. True. Akpabio is leaving Akwa Ibom better than he met it but are all the problems solved? Would Abuja have fared badly without the 63bn Abuja National Stadium? Would Akwa Ibom be worse off without a N39bn stadium? Just Food for our thoughts... |

jhydosky:How about this food for thought? Abuja should not have a national stadium because it will cost the nation money to maintain it, Uyo should not have the Akwa Ibom Stadium complex because it will cost the state money to maintain it? in other words No state should have stadiums because its maintainance is costing them money, talk about a sever case of myopia! You need to see your optometrist for glasses so you will be able to see beyond your nose. News Flash there is no infrastructure that any govt builds both social and economic that does not cost them money for maintenance. Wake up and smell the da,mn coffee. |

jhydosky:Since you live in a bubble called ignorance you seem to think that government should only invest in economic ventures which by the way is not the only responsibility of govt. You probably do not know that infrastructure is a broad word with different types like Social infrastructure, cultural, sports and recreational infrastructure, economic infrastructure, governance infrastructure. All of them are responsibilities of government and not all of them are economic but they are all important for the growth and wellbeing of the any society. How much income/profit do you think govt. hospitals, schools, govt administrative buildings, social housing etc makes? those things are not money making ventures but investment on the well being of the society. you need to read up on the roles of govt and look at the intangibles of govt infrastructure and not spend your energy on only tangibles least you miss the big picture. Here is another food for thought. Does the drainage system in any city generate income to the state? what are the tangible and intangible benefit of a drainage system to any city? and why should govt. build drainage systems? think about that and maybe you will begin to understand the role of govt. and shun the ignorance in the role of govt. that is seeking to engulf you. |

Why the hate and negative Comments on the Man Akpabio. For your information, am currently with my friends from Lagos at the stadium in question. They paid #470,000 to use the volley ball court. And across from where am watching the volley ball match, is a Secondary School Basketball competition going on. From my informed sources, the state is raking in #2.1 million from the 5day competition. Several athletes are camping in the games village in preparation for the up coming Winter Championships. There is plenty of money to make by food vendors, restaurants, sports clothing and equipment stores. |

Why you people waste your energy and time hating the transformer of Akwaibom is comical to say the least. Spend the same amount of time on your state govs. and you will not need to post 50 pictures of the same project from different angles misleading mugus on NL. Godswill Akpabio is the number one gov in Nigeria. Deal with it. Bad belle and envy is not going to change this fact. |

chukwudi44:You mind telling us how? He performed better how exactly? Because with the largest state budget in West africa and just 5 million people all he has to show for 8 years in office is a failed cenima, a few roads, 1 fly over, 1 toll paying library, and 1 football field... Amaechi next door built a larger stadium and a sports complex that has all the things that akpabio's football field doesn't have, he also built dozens of the best schools in Nigeria, but akpabio did not build one single school, amaechi built many hospital, but akpabio did not build a single hospital, amaechi built dozens of health centers, but akpabio did not build one, amaechi built many roads, bridges, fly overs and skill centers while akpabio did not built any. While the clueless and thoughtless akpabio was building cinema, his schools were getting shut down because of poor infrastructures... So tell us how the useless man did better than amaechi? Akpabio didn't do much or put anything on the ground for you people to brag. All you people have is shallow and empty rhetoric with zero facts to back them up with.. |

Randerl:I'm not sure if this is satire or just straight comedy. The thoughtless football field is just a football field with zero volleyball pitch, zero swimming pool, zero indoor sports facilities, zero lawn tennis court, zero everything... If you want all that, go to Amaechi's sports complex... Nice joke sha... |
