guy when i was trying to pen dis down based on your working i got . .
Tn+Tn=2a-(n-1)
which will give,
2Tn=2a-a . .since a=n-1
. .therefore,
2Tn=a,
2Tn=n-1,
Tn=(n-1)/2,
but how did you get,
Tn=n(n-1)/2 which although is the correct formula

Tn+Tn* won't give you a single 2a-(n-1) but instead n numbers of 2a-(n-1) in sum. Remember the sum from a(highest possible shakes) to 0 will give n numbers of terms when the numbers of terms is counted. 'a' is a term as well as 'a-1' and lastly we have 'a-(n-1)'.
prove: if we sum a to 0 for 5people shakes we have, a+a-1+a-2+a-3+a-(n-1)=4+3+2+1+0=10 (4,3,2,1 and 0; we have just five terms)
so there for when ever we sum from a to 0 we will always have the numbers of terms equal to the numbers of people. so summing from a to 0 for n numbers of people, we will have n numbers of terms.
the addition of Tn to Tn* by term position will still keep the numbers of terms separated by the plus sign constant.
so for the sum of 2a-(n-1) to n numbers of times we will have;
2Tn=n[2a-(n-1)]
(by principle of addition: p+p+p+p+p+p=6p)
