a-(n-4)+a-(n-3)+a-(n-2)+a-(n-1)

then for n=variable as,
a-(n-n)+a-[n-(n-1)]+a-[n-(n-2)]+a-[n-(n-3)]+a-[n-(n-4)]+.....+.......+......+........+...........+........+........+a-[n-(n-a)]
(where n-1=a, therefore the last term a-[n-(n-a)]=a-(n-1)

APPLICATION: find sums of numbers from 1 to x
find the sum of numbers from 1 to 99
just say;
let n be x+1, where x is the highest number you are to sum to from 1
so n=x+1=99+1=100.
now apply;
Sn=n/2[n-1]
Sn=100/2[100-1]=50×99=4950
.
.
.
NB: it will only work for all sum of numbers from 1 to x, where x is a variable
