Whooping .... Now that oil has fallen below $70... we should be thinking as programmers now and now give a benchmark of $10 as the worst case scenario... #Nigeria #Arise |

I read this long epistle with keen interest but stopped when you typed must be blamed on GEJ. That is really wrong by all ramifications. He merely happened to be there at the wrong time. many people think that oil prices fell like magic, no, go back to obama's 2008 US election campaign and listen very well to him, he made it clear that the Russians were having too much petro dollars to make trouble anywhere in the world and oneof the best ways to stop them is by bringing down oil prices. so that was the time for yar adua to start work but he was sick till 2009 when he died, then came GEJ and according to your essay 2010 is the year that recurent expenditures was lowest, well, with boko haram it is bound to rise, so the question is what where obasanjo abacha ibb and Gmb do back in those days that the civil service for example was smaller? and why did Gowon chase the biafran scientists away because Nigeria would have been a weapons manufacturing country by now if he were far sighted. Why does the legislature take 25% of national budget? and why is there no true federalism in Nigeria today? These are things when done right we wouldn't even care about oil prices. |

Crude oil should sell for just 10dollars, that would help my desire come true. If you are wondering what my desire is, look no further than my signature. |

cocoduck:I am sorry for saying that but what I believe is that if the head is faulty in making better implementations and making sure that corruption is sustained at the barest minimum, believe me everything ends at his desk. Do you believe in being somewhere at the wrong time? In Yoruba, there are things we call ORI or AYANMO. Destiny is best suited for it. If its not working please its better to leave it. If he had announced that second term for him is a no no, maybe PDP would have produced a far more better candidate Nigeria ever had. Abdulsalim Abubakar also made the move for democracy as we have it today... Some dont just want to give way. About Biafran scientists, they are there but the economy is not enabling. No matter how we put it, it still have to boil down to the economy. Help us o Lord. |

ledafaze2:well, we are not enemies even if I am igbo, the only thing is that we missed several opportunities to make Nigeria great. Ie Gowon said the money is not the problem but what to do with it, he then embarked onreckless spending on frivolities,if he at least laid a foundation of development all we need is to build on it, it is unfortunate that we have to start from scratch which you and I know is not easy to desern what is bein done until we actually start building on that foundation, then the progress will be easily seen. |

cocoduck:As a Yoruba guy, I still put the blame of what I am facing today on Chief Obafemi Awolowo. If he had accepted the deal that Chief Ojukwu offered him then, this part of the nation wont be in this mess that we are in. They saw money was not the problem and then corrupt minds like that of Chief Okotiebor started embezzling. Well... down the drain we see what we now have in Nigeria. May the Almighty scale us through these trying times. |

T8ksy:Correct me if I am wrong... Either at the brink or during the Biafran war/civil war, Awolowo was invited by Ojukwu to en-mass the whole of Yoruba with them to fight the hausas and let them be on their own... Hausa vs Yoruba+Igbo |

ledafaze2: Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s assessment of the Biafran leader was not very dissimilar to Akinjide’s view of him as a man who sought to control everything around him. Reviewing his own efforts, undertaken at considerable personal risk to find an accommodation with Ojukwu before he declared the secession in May 1967, Awolowo told US Ambassador Elbert Matthews on 24 August 1967 in Lagos that he was convinced it was impossible to negotiate with Ojukwu, who was seeking to bring the whole of southern Nigeria under his control. He described Ojukwu as being committed to conquest, not secession. According to the Periodic Intelligence Note complied on the Nigerian situation by Thomas L. Hughes, Director of Intelligence and Research, submitted to US Secretary of State, Dean Rusk, the “chief target” of Ojukwu’s “seizure of Midwest” was the Yoruba. “Should this large tribe, numbering eight million or more, choose to join Ojukwu in a move to oust northerners from southern Nigeria, the rump Nigerian federation would come apart…The Yorubas, riven by past divisions and in no mood to pull Ojukwu’s chestnuts out of the fire (rescue Ojukwu), are undecided. They have tended to side with the Gowon government ever since their principal spokesman, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, agreed to join it last June. At the same time, the fear of northern domination remains strong…Awolowo rallied towards the Federation when Gowon, himself a northerner, showed he meant to break up the once monolithic North by decreeing several newstates there,” the US intelligence estimate stated.Source: https://waidigbenro./2014/10/28/biafra-the-untold-story-of-nigerias-civil-war-2/ @ the bolder text, which I dont believe |
