Popular Nollywood actor, Desmond Elliot has emerged as the candidate to represent All Progressive Congress (APC), Surulere constituency in the incoming Lagos State House of Assembly (LAHA), election in 2015, after winning the ticket at APC primaries held in Lagos on Tuesday. You know....i really dont have much to say other than to allow democracy take its fundamental place but i would have rather loved all these entertainers and Nigeriancelebrities to remain in their former careers. The massive proliferation of these group of people going into politics and their ersthwhile aspirations can only confirm the vulnerability of our present political Climate in its most appalling and degraded sorry state. No one cares to do something different anymore other than go into politics with the sole intention of ammasing appropriated public funds and inorder words stay selfishly relevant as an upper class and look for power and control to wield off any suspicious observer. One would have expected many of these guys and so called Nigerian celebrities to use their music, talents and arts in several and many other unadulterated areas in their fields which are so many and yet to be explored most especially in these areas of art and culture. No foolhardy, not even my parents can convince me that asides the fact that majority of these guys who are poupular among their peers would make me believe that based on that premise, these are the only 'right people' that should be trusted with appropriated public funds. Nonetheless, its a good thing if these aspirants genuinely want to serve,we've had celebrities outside the country taking up political appointments e.g Arnorld Schwarzenegar, but,he didnt only serve with all his sincerity,he was also always quick to say all that he had missed and 'sacrificed' inorder to fulfill his selfless service to humanity and that alone made him a fulfilled man, but,i bet if this our aspirants will come close to do selflessly and honestly serve patriotically. I see these set of people opening up a big cankerworm of political distrust and flayed integrity filled with corruption, abuse of funds, power and office not because i dislike them or dont listen to their music or films but my political assertions are that,it will give rise to a continued trend of this nature thereby allowing just about anybody to shift to politics because it 'pays' and what anyone that needs political power and influence would do is-GET POPULAR,GET SOME FUNDING,PICK A WINNiNG PARTY,CAJOLE YOUR GULLIBlE FANS,WIN ELECTIONS,ASSUME OFFICE AND FORCIBLY LOOK FOR WAYS TO SHARE THE LOOT. As Nigerians,we need to be more intelligent, discerning and vigilant to denote these things and therefore,we need to be indépendently wary as electorates other than be mused as being 'GULLIBLE'. These analysis of mine is personal and can be simply understood if we all know and expect to hear the truth even if its not tolerating, appealing or more favorable to the majority who may think otherwise. Political aspiration is not a birthright neither is it for famedom nor enriching oneself but a voluntary opportunity to serve the people and alleviate all their major problems and i heartily wish all of them including many others who would join them later in the future the best in their political conquest. May God bless Nigeria ! |
