Anyway better late than never.

Calling the people to arms is simply telling us that the government has failed us. I'm scared when I see arms in custody of non state actors. They might arm themselves to protect themselves, fine, but what happens to those arms when the war is won?? You are most likely to wind up fighting several well armed tribal militias, each of which you have to separately negotiate disarmament with. This is bound to take a huge toll on government and indeed development. We don't want another Yemen birthing in Nigeria.

I still believe the government forces can win this on their own if the government sincerely wants to see an end to it. The civilian population can assist with intelligence gathering. I don't support arming them.
