@Op...didn't you check the weather forecast before travelling?...or were you that desperate? Still waiting to see pics of the restaurant....and word of the food! Not much to look at along the way....were you disappointed by lack of interesting scenery? ...and are these pics from the SLR?....look more like pbone cam to me unless visibility was that bad. Saw you doing like 60mph/100kph....what's the speed limit on those open roads? Interesting thread!

she gave me the menu.,

55 mph is the limit on country highways but 60 is still ok. on the interstate, 70 is the limit, but can do 75, sometimes 80mph. clocked 91 one time coming back from Georgia,. Those days re behind me now.
wasn't at all disappointed by the lack of scenery. sometimes, u just want to enjoy traveling from a different perspective
The rain was nothing. If u live in the NE USA, u will get used to driving in conditions like this:

I was like wowwwww, U will need the EMT to get me out of here today by the time i'm done., lol.
I wanted something that would bring back that feeling of home, something that would make me feel Nigerian again
anyways, I started with no. 1.- Jollof rice with fried rice, with a side of moi- moi and whiting fish, (fried Kpanla) she called it.

so you traveled many miles just to eat jollof rice
You could have bought all the ingredients you need for that at any Walmart or Safeway close to you.

Better eat enough swallow and conc naija soup before you leave there. If you fill your stomach with jollof rice e no go good. cheesy

Hmmm...so you even drove thru snow!..wow...you been really desperate for home food! After all that I was expecting you to start off by ordering the whole Page 1 on the menu instead of just one item!...but that's you! Did she bring a bowl of water for you to wash hands?!

she asked me what I wanted for appetizer while she got the food ready. I quickly scanned thru the menu and one item caught my attention. SUYA.,
God knows I havn't heard that word, talk more of smelling that delicious aroma or even tasting it in almost 4 years.
memories of my childhood came flooding back., how I used to sneak out at night to buy suya from the aboki 2 streets away from my home in ebute- meta.. My dad forbade me from ever eating suya then. Unhygienic he called it. I still remember how I would wash and rinse my mouth over and over again to remove that smell that always lingers after u just had suya, so pops doesn't know what I've been up to. How I miss those days now.
anyways sha, back to my story.,
I ordered 4 SUYAs for appetizer., with a bottle of malt. N.B, the closest drink to maltina or malta guiness here is called Goya malt. its not quite there, but e try small.
as I was waiting for my SUYA, the lady's husband came with a saucer of chin chin.,

My hostess wanted me to try 2 out first.
the SUYA arrived. I was expecting the usual nice Hausa Suya, but what I got was this:
the suya tasted nice and all, but it was nothing compared to lagos suya. tasted more like beef kekab with suya seasoning.
Anyways sha, I dispatched the 2 suyas.
I was kinda disappointed, but I knew that the main dish was still coming.

You should move down to Texas, lots of Nigerians/Nigerian restaurants here and gas is a lot cheaper as well. You can't keep starving yourself up north, move down south cool

I'm moving there next year. This California life is too fake and expensive. When gas in Texas is about $2.50 a gallon, na like $3.20 we dey buy am. Yeye California.
