A civil rights activist and former member of the House of Representatives, Otunba Dino Melaye, on Monday clinched the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to contest the Kogi West Senatorial District in the 2015 general election.

He will slug it out with the incumbent, former National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Smart Adeyemi of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Adeyemi's victory was shocking, as he upstaged Tunde Ogbeha and Gen. David Jemibewon (Rtd) and defeated their anointed 'son'.

According to the Chairman, APC Primary Election Committee in Kogi State, Engr. Ebitei Francis and the Secretary, Hon. Bala Ajeje, Melaye scored 2,077 of the votes to defeat his rival, Bidemi Adeyemi, who received 326 votes.

I wonder how he was voted in to rep in d first place, because he seems to be lacking what it takes to lead. Some1 that beats his wife, chasing skirts everywhere.

Interesting that he won the ticket given his not-too-encouraging personal and political track record. It's either His people really love him and believe in Him or some serious underground work was done. #suspicious
