Roland Taylor, New Zealand photographer snapped photos of the lightning storm on Wednesday at about 5.30pm (local time) from his apartment in Surry Hills in Sydney.

He says he took a series of photos over half an hour, and each lightning strike is its own photo.

"It's then just a simple step to merge or 'Stack' them together. The trick is exposing each shot right to make sure the blend works well," Mr Taylor said.

He said he was "very fortunate to have such a good front row seat for the show".

When lightning strikes in Nigeria, the local myth is that you shouldn't hold any reflective or illuminating object eg Mirror, glasses, flashlight etc.

Cool photos and i will love to do that in lagos here whenever rain falls next .
