That's an average of almost 50,000 Dollars (N8 Million) to one house unit. Good to know, i hope the town planners do their job and don't make it a slum. 1 Like |

Dumb move. Besides, what technology is involved in building that will warrant giving the contract to a white man? l'm sure 20% of the sum goes to the politicians. 1 Like |

Obinoscopy: I can tell you authoritatively that this is another white elephant project. As a consultant in development, I challenge the relevant agencies to make public the housing survey carried out to identify the housing need in this study area. What is informing this implementation. What is housing need in Abuja (qualitative and quantitative) and how much of this need is this particular project taking care of. What are the project evaluation conducted on alternative course of actions from such problem survey. What has informed the choice of site selection vis - a-vis the distribution of housing need in the country. All these and many more questions are what must be presented to the members of the public and be subject to their approval in a process known 'public participation in planning' Nigerians it high time we begin to demand good governance form the public office holders. 1 Like |

simplemach:Housing projects like you are suggesting are built in cities where land for building is scarce and very expensive....where there is more than enough water and electricity supply 24/7....where there is an efficient sewer, garbage collection and disposal syatem. That's our problem...building stuff and not considering support and maintenance. @topic....the price of oil is still falling....foreign exchange reserves dwindling....naira losing value.....why use the precious foreign currency to employ a foreign contractor to do a job that locals can? Is this in the name of foreign investment?...more like suicide to me. 1 Like |

everybody is developing only abuja yet they want votes from states where no single federal govt project is. look at an independent country doing transactions in a foreign currency. it is a shame and inferiority complex. what happened to our currency? 2 Likes |

I wish that new eastate could be cage jail for all those corrupt politicians and senior thief's civil servants that killing this country. Why now for God sake go to Ikoyi Asokoro etc to see for yourself. The only thing one sees in those houses is security guards, which many of them are not even Nigerians guarding those empty houses. Most of this high boroug neighborhood where houses are sold for over 300 million Naira. My concern is if most of this civil servants that don't make 500 million in their entire carrier, where do they get those monies to purchase those mansions. corruption as eating in to the hart on our existent. imagine a civil sevent steal millions in pension money, and just get fined for just 200 thousand naira. This guy paid the fined inside the courtroom and walk away. The questions we need to ask ourssel is, is this the Nigeria we want to leave for our childrens after we all gone. We have no any other country then this country, we need to change the detection of this great nation of ours. Great people with great resources. God continue to bless this Country. 1 Like |
