trillville:The SS and SE are not against private ownership of oil wells What we are against is Hausa Fulani allocating the oil wells to themselves and few of their Southern friends. For your info China is encouraging private ownership of businesses which has helped her economy surpassed that of US in recent time. |

WhiteTechnology:It is high time some of you niw1t separate jonathans presidential ambition from the intrest of the niger delta, jonathan does not give a rat a55 about the niger delta people Jonathan WILL NOT stop allocating oil wells to his Northern friends even if he wins next years election. Check out the list of all the owners of oil blocs; 90% of the are Northern PDP bigwigs viz: Alhaji Adamu mu'azu, Bamanga Tukur, TY Danjuma, Mohammed Abacha, Namadi Sambo, Ahmadu Ali, Ali Modu Sheriff etc |

Jakpon:They were given these oil wells during Northern led FG era That is why the North opposes PIB bill which will enable the ND people get back their rights and privileges. |

WhiteTechnology:Blame the North from now till eternity but you cannot still exonerate jonathan. As far as jonathan is concerned, his 2015 presidential ambition is what matters to him. All these talk about Niger delta right and oil well is just sweet nonsense |

WhiteTechnology:the problem with nigeria is that we repeat the same old crap over and over again until we all believe it is the only sensible solution where as it is not even feasible. from ur definition, are u trying to say states are not presently empowered? the 27% derivation is not empowerment? True federalism is synonymous with resource control. the thing is, if you conduct ur true federalism, are we still going to operate state of origin. today the SE keeps complaining legitimately about igbo's being deported from lagos, that nigeria belongs to everybody so why should any person be deported. imagine what it would be like in ur true federalism view of nigeria. again even f we choose to use state of residency, because we are physically different and we speak different languages, such issues will still spring up. why do u think the first republic was flawed? your dislike for northerners shouldn't blind you to the fact that majority of northerners are suffering even more poverty than southerners. again realise that the overall population of nigeria should be a bigger resource for nigeria than even oil if properly utilised. we are not so different from each other. |

Buhari does not seem to articulate how he will fight corruption. Unfortunately we Nigerians set up systems that are prone to corruption and we hail those policies. One example - contraband goods, successive governments regularly ban and unban goods usually in the name of supporting local industry or saving foreign exchange. Any banned goods are always available openly in our markets and customs men and women grow fat on bribes. We encourage our children to get jobs in customs because there is money there. Tell me how does Buhari or Goodluck stop this type of corruption? Remove government from much of our daily lives and corruption will naturally fall. Is there corruption in the garri market? Or telecos? Compare corruption in MTN that of NITEL? |

WhiteTechnology:do you want SE and SS people to own and run the oil wells the same way the northern owners have. what benefit is that to you personally? the issue of government ownership vs private ownership is more complicated than most people think. for nigeria, i would like a situation where government creates an industry and then privatises it patially in the stock market and a major business partner. this is similar to how china operates presently. i am not against privatisation, i am against improverishing nigerians through privatisation. |

trillville:Civil war is almost inevitable. True federalism is the only option that ensures we come out better. Dont ever think that crude oil and its revenues will flow seamlessly after GEJ leaves office. The north jas set the precedence. So its either we gently structure a true federal system and adopt it or we violently adopt it still. |

trillville:Today's oil derivation is 13% The Confab proposed an increase to 18% for oil What guys like me have advocated is an increase to at least 25% for all resources and taxes So I wonder where you got your 27% derivation. |

faithin9ja:That's why it pains me when SW youths keep deceiving themselves out of greed for VP position,, that Buhari will eradicate corruption. Corruption thrive more in a faulty system These steps below are the best steps to eradicate corruption Resource control Fiscal federalism Privatization Political federalism Decentralization of Nigeria Restructuring of Nigeria Institutions submitting their quarterly activities to public scrutiny Which are the fastest route to economic diversification , citizenry prosperity and political greatness |

Flets:It baffles me that someone will say true federalism will destroy Nigeria Truly some parts of Nigeria are barriers to national development |

I believe corruption is in every sector in Nigeria and looking at the above post we've only mentioned or talked about corruption in the oil well ownership. I was expectting a wholistic approach that can touch every sector in Nigeria. GMB coming back after 30 years shows that we aint moving forward as a nation. Judging from comments above he is only trying to patronize us, no concrete plans to end corruption yet. I am still expecting an excerpt of one of his speeches on how he intends to end corruption "if" elected. |
