I visited Nnewi last year. One noticeable thing about Nnewi is that even poorest person could possess a polished building. Nnewi people atimes their money no dey clear for my eye. Fear them o!!!

And teach them to stop locking kids at home alone.
Even without candle or lantern, it only takes NEPA to bring light and one socket starts burning while kids are playing. How many times had it happened that someone will plug something and later start smelling burning wire. If the person was not around, that would have been fire.
If you must lock your kids, dont go for more than 5 mins. I understand that sometimes a parent need to lock the kids to go quickly carry something at the road, fetch water, return some borrowed stuff or quickly buy salt and maggi at the kiosk a building away/ accros which you cant take kids along cos you want to go fast and return even faster . But as soon as 5 mints elapses and it seems you wont make it bck in another 4, just go back home and drop them with a neighbour first. Rice sharing things dont happen fast o. Esp when women are concerned. She prolly stayed for more than 1hr Fire can destroy a building in 30mins.
RIP to those poor babies. Let me not even say more.

This has nothing to do with poverty or greed. I'd rather attribute it to ignorance,carelessness and illiteracy. While growing up,we were often instructed to stay indoors and not go out but we were never locked inside except on a few occassions and that was with a step-mother. If the mother had considered the safety of the children,she wouldn't have locked them in. It's just stupidity. The worst that would happen is that they'd disobey you and go out to play and you can spank them for that. Locking them up inside the house is just stupidity.

Can't really say. My friend's house got burnt dat same day, burning all his property. Rip to those innocent kid.

That she had to clarify the food was meant for everyone and not widows alone annoyed me. Is that enough to lock the children up? And she went for that long? Till the fire consumed the kids. What a mother.

see the mysteries of this life, how this thing happened is confusing,a mother locking up her all 3 girls to go and get rice meant for the widows when she is not one,then fire from nowhere engulfed the kids..where did the fire start from, with no flammble substance at the house! The mum has lots of questions to answer., evil happened at that house, and maybe it happened through their mum,..is very suspicious..rest in peace to the soul of the deceased and innocent kids..

How do you leave kids of 6 years and below alone at home? I mean do people not understand that a child of 6 years is still a kid and needs to be supervised? I don't just understand how some people reason for crying out loud.

You locked them in the room to restrict movement, yet your stup1d mind didn't tell you that there are household items that could hurt those kids, kids are not supposed to be left alone, this just annoys me.
