I work on the internet, so I have to subscribe a decent amount of mobile data every month. I use the Etisalat 20GB data plan which costs about N18,000 monthly, so on the average, I spent about N216,000 In 2014.

I bought 10GB Etisalat every month. I work and study online. I just purchased the first one today. Why can't we have cheaper internet in Nigeria?
Does anybody know a cheaper alternative?

Glo BIS? Please elaborate
To all those asking how to use glo bis on android, you should know it is long process if you are new to it and it will be better if you read it from the source.http://www.rasaqtech.com/2014/12/how-to-use-glo-bis-on-android-device.html. But if you have a Pc and modem, mtn bis is currently working unlimitedly with 800kb/s downloading speed, check it here http://www.rasaqtech.com/2014/12/mtn-bis-blazing-unlimitedly-with-simple.html

When it comes to mobile data Nigeria, the cost at which we purchase or subscribe for it is day by day becoming high.

The service providers are making a huge profit from the purchase of despite all the complains the youth keep on making to the NCC to help and get an affordable price that can suffice us.
As the year is just about to run out, I look back in retrospect to what i have spent for JUST data subscription in 2014.

From the starting of 2014 to its end, I have spent more than 18k for data in my N9,500 Tecno M3(almost twice the price of the phone) ranging from MTN to Glo,from Glo to Airtel and from Airtel to Etisalat.

So I want to know how much did you (nairalanders) spend for mobile data in 2014?
As for me, I spent just N12K for 12 Months. It includes endless downloads of whatever size both on my phone and browsing with the same phone as a modem with my Laptop, BBM pinging, WhatsApping and any other internet usage.
This cannot be compared with when I used to pay N15K a month for data on my PC alone.

Re: How Much Did You Spend On Data Subscription In 2014 ? by Dacronym(m): 9:25am On Jan 02, 2015
The only suggestions/advice i can give you guys is to
1. Get a java phone for surfing the internet only and browse with operamini the viewing experience is sometimes the same infact for nairaland the viewing experience is exactly the same. If u think it may be slow u could get some java phones with 3g/hsdpa network(e.g nokia 208) which trust me is equally as fast as on some smartphones and even okay 4 downloading atimes. The only con is slower typing but u get to save a whole lot more
2. And if u will need to use the internet on ur smartphone which i know would be inevitable from time-to-time 4 a whole of reasons, use the etisalat payg plan think thats d cheapest 4 now esp. for android users but i hear that would soon be stoped
