| GEJ and GMB...a neutral opinion by DebateNigeria(op): 3:08pm On Jan 03, 2015 |
Let me make it clear that I am not a member of any political party neither am I interested in any candidate. I want us to look at their(GMB and GEJ) personal lives, what did they do as ordinary Nigerians, what business did they set up, how successful was it. Were they involved in any humanitarian activities, did they set up any foundation to help poor people in the society, promote education, preach against crime. How exactly were they role models. Did any of the two major presidential aspirant author any book (not academic) that will inspire Nigerians. How did they encourage agriculture within their local communities, how many people did they give scholarships to or help set up their business. Where they at any point involved in any advocacy geared towards improving the lives of an average Nigerian. What was their role during the military regime to restore democracy. These are questions I will like both APC and PPD apologists to answer. As far as I am concerened, GEJ is an opportunist with no track records of humanitarian involvement before he joined politics, no track record of doing a successful business, no track record of promoting education. GMB is not different, yes he may not be corrupt but how has he promoted education, with his name and weight he could have set up a foundation(people will donate) to reduce poverty and promote education. He does not operate any business that I know of, he has not authored any book to inspire Nigerians. My resolve: Both candidates are intellectually poor, they have never owned a busness so they can't run Nigeria successfully, they have never been involved in humanitarian activities (outside government) so they don't care about Nigerians. Unfortunately we are left with two bad frontrunners. I will definitely vote. ...thank God there are 9 other options |

This is exactly what I've been talking about all the while, but the 9 other candidates are not going anywhere; they themselves know it, my resolution is this, when you're presented with two evils, go for the lesser evil. |

Buhari should have channeled all the bitterness and energy to improving lives of most almajiris in the north since poverty and hunger is more rampant but for wher, he chose to channel it to politics knowing fully that no Nigerian will vote for him. Gej till buhari goes to school. |

The two candidates have poor records of writing books, they have also not run businesses before so that is a minus. However Buhari was in the army when army was army. Jinathan is lacking in any kind of executive ability whatsoever which is highly visible in open avoidance of responsibility. Let us remember that this was a mediocre middle rank civil servant at best until Alams picked him up purely on internal Bayelsa quota system/ethnic balancing. He was never even amongst the thirty most influential people in Bayelsa during Alams time. So all attemps to credit him with qualities we know he never had will always fail |

https://m.facebook.com/notes/dr-tunde-bakare-apostle-of-jesus-christ-by-the-will-of-god/the-sins-of-buhari-by-professor-tam-david-west/202366893131188 There are many testimonials as to the character of Buhari. He remembered the honesty and dedication of Dora Akunyili and recommended her to head NAFDAC. His modesty, lack of avarice, and his belief that Nigerians can tackle their problems is evident in his record. A corper I know spent a year in his residence and remains full of praise for the attention he gave him as a yoruba boy. The president has to set a moral tone for his government and party, and the nation, and in all that, there is an abundance of evidence to suggest that Jonathan has failed. |

3cycle:I am sure you are from the East. Only an easterner argues in a selfish blinkered fashion like you have done. Buhari was.not the only one embittered by the rigging. Rigging disenfranchises people and unleashes dangerous social forces. Let APC win in 2015 then using federal might rig in 2019 and win against APGA in Anambra, Enugu and Abia state, let them also deploy soldiers and police during the elections in those states...let that happen and watch and see a new kind of ogbunigwe and shore batteries we have never seen before. Personally anybody stealing my vote is taking a great risk with his life...my money is very easy, i may even freely give it. But my God and vote, you have to try harder. I also have issues with the way you said channel bitterness about being rigged against into education and ejancipation of his un educated, people ..or something of the sort. Well this is a former Head of State ahd this is a tribe that has rulled Nigeria from inception to 1999 so we can be proud and arrogant about a SS guy being in power .but let us not.deceive ourselves and pretend that it was not they who voluntarly allowed Obj to run and it was not Obj who carried Jinathan on his back to the presidency. If you think Jonathan was too wrong in.ltoo much. |

Why should I vote a man and his assistant that said. " We shall stabilize the oil market and secure the economy with soldiers." ' we shall re channel subsidy to feeding school children." Op GMB and Osinbanjo are clueless in terms of economy. GEJ only fault is his failure to convince the National Assembly and Governors on the need for true federalism. |
| Re: GEJ and GMB...a neutral opinion by Nobody: 3:58pm On Jan 03, 2015 |
Further cluelessness of Buhari " We shall give 25million very poor at least #5000 each every month." OP This will amount to #1.5tr in a year GMB did not tell us where he will get the money from. |
| Re: GEJ and GMB...a neutral opinion by Adminisher: 4:02pm On Jan 03, 2015 |
What clue has Jonathan ever had about the economy?. The man never even saw his own budget, was afraid to read it and i am sure he does not know the figures. All Jonathan interviews on media chats are mediocre affairs with poor english and displays of ignorance of even o level economics. Please go on you tube watch them again and report back You think Obj is entirely wrong in all that he called GEJ? |

WhiteTechnology:Are you kidding me?. Fuel subsidy stolen money is at least.2.5trillion, uncollected revenue from multinationals and big cimpanies is about 2 trillion , oil companies are cheating Nigeria to the tune of more than 5trillion every year. It is you that is unexposed. They have bought you and sold you finish. Do you know there are companies who invest $1bn into nigeria and make $1.5bn out of nigeria every year? anybody with half a brain knows when that happens there is something wrong with the tax code. Buhari will never allow it to be said that nigerians live on less than $2 a day. You pay N5000 to 2.5 million people, they buy more indomie, cement, cassava and stimulate local denand and boost GDP. The social security system is the best support for business owning rich men in any country. It is you who does not know your economics. In any case Jonathan channelled 350bn to millitants every year for 4 years and he found the money |

Adminisher:People bandy figures without evidence. Can you be specific on the company/companies that invested $1b and are reaping $1.5b p/a?. Whats exactly wrong with the tax code as presently constituted?. I would like a pure economic answer and not hearsay or assumptions. |

SeverusSnape:APC guys are saying there is only one evil, Jonathan and PDP supporters are saying Jonathan and Buhari are evil but one is the lesser one. So quite obviously, PDP has lost the argument. I think there is a lot of trickery.involved in trying to manage the tainted Jonathan presidency. The candidate himself is confused because all his advisers tell him is that he is the.best. He reads the papers and sees the C word attached to his name and wonders what is happening. It is a pathetic situation generals are lying about the war, minister of power is lying about power, yoruba politicians aligned to PDP are saying bring 10billion naira we will deliver the region to you and madam is annointing candidates as she sees fit. Cluelessness is not bliss obviously. |

Charlesnerd:GSM companies South African Mall developers Newly privatised govt entities Petrochemical company buyers Many medium scale Chinese businesses break even in six months All new major FDI entities break even in first year. Some of them dont even bring in the FDI, they borrow the money here and whatever the intetest rate pass the cost to consumers All oil companies cheat UNBELIEVEABLY, the amounts involved are staggering and usually happen with new projects Nigeria is contributing 55%, 60% o 70% to. NAFCON now NOTORE was sold at twenty percent of its value and they broke even before starting.business, please check their profits every.year and if you have a clever acvountant, look for the hidden profits. N5000 for 2.5 million people is nothing compared with the money floating around. |
| Re: GEJ and GMB...a neutral opinion by Charlesnerd: 4:52pm On Jan 03, 2015 |
Adminisher:Sorry to say,you have not mentioned any company in particular and it shows the level of misinformation that goes on in the politics section of nairaland. In the last two years or so,there has been no new entrant into the Nigerian gsm market. So which of them are you referring to? Do you really know whats $1b ? . |
| Re: GEJ and GMB...a neutral opinion by Adminisher: 5:00pm On Jan 03, 2015 |
Charlesnerd:The $1b was for example. It makes.no difference to the lucrativeness of the nigerian market if the figure were just $50million. Companies are recouping.their investments within one year. The point is that trillions of tax revenues.are being lost which can be used for poverty alleviation that will stimulate the demand for the products of the same companies. If the middle class vanishes in Nigeria, Dangote will go bankrupt because there wont be anybody building housed. |
| Re: GEJ and GMB...a neutral opinion by DebateNigeria(op): 7:39pm On Jan 03, 2015 |
Since we all agree that both leading front runners are clueless, why don't we consider other candidates |
| Re: GEJ and GMB...a neutral opinion by Nobody: 9:13pm On Jan 03, 2015 |
Adminisher:Instead of giving #5000 every month to 25 million people each which will amount to #1.5tr leaving the treasury every year, I will use that money to initiate good economic programs that can empower 25million people each to pay #2000 every month into the national treasury which will amount to #600 Billion My guy this example will prove your ideal to be economically incorrect Lets assume Nigerian's national wealth is #5tr every year Your socialist ideal takes out #1.5tr to share amongst the poor. What remains is #3.5tr for other things My Capitalist ideal uses #1.5tr to create programs that empowers the poor to contribute to the national treasury a sum of #2000 every month per person which is equivalent to #2000 × 25million poor people × 12months = 600 billion naira every year Now add #3.5tr + 600billion = #4.1tr every year My guy compare your socialist ideal which depletes national wealth from #5tr to #3.5tr And Capitalist ideal which first decrease national wealth from #5tr to #3.5tr and later increase national wealth from #3.5tr to #4.1tr from the contributions of those poor people Which system will likely go bankrupt.? The answer will reveal to you why socialist nations like Soviet Cuba Korea Yugoslavia etc fell economically It will help you know why China encouraged free market It will help you know why US and Europe are standing It will help you know why US is likely to fall behind after embracing some faulty economic Socialist ideal ![]() |
