Why Pastors Must Be Involved In Politics! by Pangea(op):
I decided this morning to preach a brief message on the erroneous belief going about, that a pastor or a man of God must never dabble into politics but focus on his flock.
May I say this lacks biblical foundation and here is my own take on the matter.

The office of a pastor is one of the five fold ministries which include an Apostle, a Prophet, a Teacher, an Evangelist as written in
Ephesians 4:11 "And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers"

From the above we can establish the fact that the five offices encapsulate the tag "Men Of God" for these are the people appointed for service in the house of God.
So, please permit me to use the word: Men of God or MOG instead.

In every area of life, leaders are needed to chart the way forward and God place premium on using the right man, the right leader. In fact when God wants to deal with a nation, the first thing he does is to remove the leadership, an example is in
Isaiah 3:1-5 "For, behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water,
2.The mighty man, and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, and the prudent, and the ancient,
3.The captain of fifty, and the honourable man, and the counseller, and the cunning artificer, and the eloquent orator.
4. And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them.
5. And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbour: the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honourable"

Of course when children or babe (the incompetents) start ruling, there will be disaster in the land.
So having the right leadership in place is very crucial for peace and progress.
God is highly interested in the political leadership of the land and from the bible we see God, sending his prophets to anoint kings in the land (for those saying men of God should steer clear of endorsing a politician) an example is in
1 kings 19:15 "And the LORD said unto him, Go, return on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when thou comest, anoint Hazael to be king over Syria:
16. And Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint to be king over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abelmeholah shalt thou anoint to be prophet in thy room.

Here we saw Elijah being instructed by God to go and anoint Hazael as the king of Syria and Jehu as the king of Israel.
In the bible God also instructed Samuel to anoint Saul as the king but when Saul failed the people and God, samuel was instructed again to anoint David a king while Saul was on the throne.
In the present, is this not more than endorsement?

Before Israel cried to God to give them kings like the other nations, these men of God were the political ruler and they ruled as judges.

When prophet Samuel the last judge was old the people told him that they don't want his children to take over because they are not as spiritual as him and they want a king instead, hence God giving them king Saul.
When Saul was anointed, he prophesied, and there was even a saying that "is Saul among the prophets"
David that took over from him too was a Prophet.
I even read that Emperor Constantine was a bishop and the first pope.

God never exempted his men from playing a political role.
Men of God are also used by God to correct an erring political leader, an example is God using prophet Nathan to correct and convict king David after doing Zina with Bathsheba and murdering her husband.
Unfortunately, just as we have now, even back then, there were many sycophantic men of men who posed as men of God that flocks around the leaders and who are incapable of telling them the truth, the bible describes them as men whose God is their belly.
They tell the leaders what they want to hear and not what God wants them to hear. These men are scam artist and many of them have wonderful credentials and are respected as great men of God.

But most of the time, God uses the wild cards, the unknown, to stir things for the leader to listen.
In 1 kings 22, king Jehoshaphat and king Ahab wanted to go to war with Syria and they called 400 prophets in the land to tell them the outcome, all the prophets were prophesying same thing "go and conquer, God has given you the land!" They were saying all sorts of positive things. Zedekiah the oldest prophet even fashioned a horn and was dramatising how they will use the horn to scatter the Syrians.

Jehoshaphat knew something was wrong and ask for a second opinion from an unknown prophet called Micaiah, without looking face, he told them they were going to loose and loose bad. That even the king will die. Zedekiah the oldest prophet was enraged for giving a contrary prophecy and gave Micaiah a dirty slap and shouted when did God start talking to you this small boy when we your senior had already prophesied ?
Micaiah prophecy eventually came to pass.

Father Mbaka had spoken and many people and old prophets have started throwing stones, mudslinging and throwing tantrums.
Feb 14 is just some days away, let us be patient and see.

These are facts from the bible.

The excuse of nowadays Christian is mis-interpretation of what was written in 2 Timothy 2:4 "No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier"
You can do business with non christians but you don't want to involve yourself in leadership?

I'm not a religious bigot, but the truth is that, it's just recently that we have more christians participating in governance and I believe, this is a welcome development.
