Lionel Messi follows Chelsea on Instagram on day
he doesn't show for training
Barcelona forward follows Premier League giants
on day he fails to turn up for training.
Lionel Messi has caused a minor internet
earthquake by following Chelsea and some of their
players on Instagram.
On a crazy day for Barcelona – with director of
football Andoni Zubizarreta being sacked and
assistant Carles Puyol resigning – the Catalan
giants will now be forced to deal with renewed
speculation about their best player.

Rumours of Messi’s discontent have been swirling
around on Monday after Mundo Deportivo
reported he had had a falling out with coach Luis
Enrique.

Messi is believed to have taken offence at Enrique
giving a decision against his team in five-a-side
training match leading to a stand-off between the
two men.
We're just going to repeat that key phrase, in
block capitals and bold and italics too, because
it's simply so ridiculous: IN A FIVE-A-SIDE
TRAINING MATCH.
Messi was then benched for the defeat to David
Moyes’ Real Sociedad on Sunday before failing to
turn up for training on Monday morning,
apparently due to a dicky tummy.
Now, Early Doors is aware that Messi follows lots
of people on Instagram – 97 to be precise,
including Manchester City and Beyonce.
But the timing of his move to follow Chelsea, as
well as defender Filipe Luis and goalkeeper
Thibaut Courtois, is rather suspicious.
Either it’s a complete coincidence and Messi
wanted to take his mind off his troublesome
bowels by enjoying the social media offering of
the West London club, or it was designed to get
us all talking about his future.
It was even claimed that Messi's other half,
Antonella, had also started following Chelsea on
Twitter - a double whammy for Barcelona.
Early Doors isn't able to corroborate the claim
and establish whether the account is genuine, but
either way, momentum is certainly building
behind hopes that Messi may soon be coming to
the Premier League.
