There was apprehension among members of the
Peoples Democratic Party in Abuja following the
absence of some of the governors of the party at
the inauguration of the Presidential Campaign
Organisation of the party in Abuja on Tuesday.
The organisation, headed by a former National
Chairman of the party, Sen. Amadu Ali, is saddled
with the responsibility of selling the candidacy of
President Goodluck Jonathan and his deputy, Alhaji
Namadi Sambo, to Nigerians for the February 14
presidential election.
Only a handful of the governors were in
attendance, while about half of them did not show
up for the occasion.
Among the governors at the event were Emmanuel
Uduaghan(Delta), Gabriel Suswam(Benue), Isa
Yuguda(Bauchi), James Ngilari (Adamawa),
Babangida Aliyu(Niger) and Ibrahim Dankwambo
( Gombe State).
However, governors Theodore Orji(Abia), Dr.
Olusegun Mimiko(Ondo), Sullivan Chime(Enugu),
Seriake Dickson(Bayelsa), Martin Elechi(Enugu)
were absent from the inauguration.
Also not part of the inauguration were Idris Wada
(Kogi), Ibrahim Shema(Katsina), Sule Lamido
(Jigawa) and Jonah Jang(Plateau).
One of our correspondents saw many of the
bigwigs from the party discussing the
developments, especially when some of the
absentee governors were put in charge of the
campaign in their zones.
Lamido is saddled with the responsibility of
coordinating the presidential campaign in the
North-West, while Mimiko is in charge of South-
West and Orji, South-East.
No reason was given for the absence of the
governors.
However, the President later met behind closed
doors with the PDP governors at the Presidential
Villa, Abuja.
The meeting, which was also attended by ministers
from states where there are no PDP governors, was
meant to strategise ahead of the commencement
of the presidential campaign.

Maybe they have seen the handwriting on the wall and they decided to disassociate themself from the impending failure that wil come feb 14th.
Truly the PDP umbrella is leaking while election rain is falling. Am beginning to see APC broom sweeping out corruptions.
The year election will be very interesting, i can't wait to vote for GMB.

The president postponed the initial inauguration because he lost his sister. I am sure somebody in the presidency cocked up again and forgot to inform all the governors of the change. Weak dis organised presidency. I can't wait to hear Jonathan mount the rostrum to talk. Every campaign stop would be like campaigning for Buhari because the guy can't just stop talking rubbish in public.

There is problem with the president's campaign. I find it hilarious that Orji (Abia State Governor) is saddled with the responsibility of convincing the south-east electorate to vote for GEJ. Why didn't GEJ give it to Enugu governor, maybe that was why he did not attend the campaign inauguration.

PDP stalwarts are beginning to realize that GEJ's presidential aspiration is simply dead on arrival,best bet is to dump his carcass now..

Jona himself sounded even less convincing......“Many of you are tested veterans of political
campaigns. As we embark formally on the
campaigns for our re-election, our party, the
People’s Democratic Party will depend on you. I
am also personally counting on you. I ask you
to take on this assignment for your great party,
for Goodluck Jonathan and Namadi Sambo, and
also, more importantly, for the country as a
whole" Well the man is counting on campaign veterans not the votes of Nigerians, to win the election. Best wishes as you GO!

There is intellectual deficit in the Jonathan campaign. There is also a lot of cynicism. People see Jonathan as the drowning president and are keeping their distance. The average party man will do his best to win his seat and jump on the winning side days before the elections. This Orji leading campaigns in the east is the dumbest thing ever.
