Aggrieved stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi state have threatened to leave the party if Senator Julius Ucha remains the party’s governorship flag-bearer, adding that if they still remain in the party, they would work against Ucha as its candidate. However, THISDAY gathered that one of the APC chieftains and former aspirant for Ebonyi Central Senatorial Zone, Chief Innocent Ugo Chima, has joined the Peoples Democratic Party because of the leadership crisis in the opposition party. Chima’s defection came as the factional chairman of the party, Sam Igwe and his executives had formerly decamped to the ruling PDP as, according to them, “APC is a shattered boat and has no hope for the Igbos”. The stakeholders in a statement signed by Ebele Bernard, Demian Agwu-Onu alleged that Ucha sponsored thugs to disrupt the governorship primary when he discovered that he was not winning the election. They further called on the national leadership of the APC to address the anomalies because if urgent steps are not taken, they would decamp to other political parties. The statement insisted “that Chief Austin Igwe Edeze should be returned as APC gubernatorial candidate for Ebonyi state in line with the popular yearning of Ebonyi people since Senator Julius Ucha sponsored thugs to disrupt the governorship primary”. “We wish to state categorically that if Ucha remains the APC flagbearer, we will not stop aggrieved stakeholders from defecting to other political parties. We will still be in APC but will work against Ucha if he remains the candidate”, they threatened. www.thisdaylive.com/articles/ebonyi-apc-stakeholders-threaten-to-leave-party-if-ucha-remains-guber-candidate/198867/ |

Why are they threaten to leave the party Is not as if GMB will win in that state, is just like saying some people in sokoto APC are issuing threat that they would leave when it is as clear as day that GMB will win there...Them leaving and joining any other party is inconsequential... |

The body of the write up said they already decamped to PDP while the heading is saying otherwise. It is better for APC to lose the election than to present a candidate that his mind is in another party. |
