otheloze:I'll strongly agree with u on many points u expressed here. When d deper life raised objection about TVs as devils box, even christians derided them using the SAME scriptures! I tell u one thing even if the catholic church is confirmed by Jesus with a voice from heaven selfish christians will still attack it. |

@ poster If you must know,i've been a witness from birth.i am not a happy man and because of this religion, every minuit of my life i regret of being a member of this religion.i have not really benefited anything from this religion.i have been a member since birth, but i hate the religion woth a passion.my entire family are witness. I would advice you never to join for this resons. They don't involve in world celebrations They don't celebrate christmas They don't celebrate new year They don't celebrat birth days They don't celebrate valantine They don't participate in politics They don't marry outside their religion They don't celebrate easter. They isolate themselves They believe that they are the only true religion practicing the write doctrine. That religion is just like a cult, once u enter it is very dificult to come out.they monitor you up and down as if u are a kid. The religion deprives you of the pleasures of life. Its like a prison. Am a witness but am already thinking of quitting but am jst waiting for the right time. My greatest advice for you is never to join. A word is enough for the wise. Don't say i did'nt tell you Stay tight and remain blessed |

@freecocoa I don't know what has happened to you yet. I'm just seeing your comment today and feel like telling you something. Pls. listing to what I have to say concerning your question. It was stated in the Bible that in the latter days perilous time shall come. ( It is the same Bible that predicted that). God knows that in time like this that men will be the way they are now. Pls. whatever decision you have taken already on this please consider what i will tell you now serious. I was once in a similar position like you. I wanted to get close to God and to worship with a true believing Church. I could not found any church in Lagos which should be preaching nothing but the truth. I'm talking to every sincere Christian where ever you are and especially those in Lagos. I discover that most churches(Pentecostal and non Pentecostal) are preaching what suit them, and they don't care much in correcting evil. they overlook many sin etc. Now pls. whatever happen to you do not Join Jehovah witness (Ndi Ama Jehovah). Before I say why you should not join them , let me first of all tell you my own side of the story when I was in your situation. I had to visit many churches while looking for a comfortable church where I can worship. As I was having this problem, I didn't know that God was watching me. So, one day God took my thought to his word while I was in the church. No body could help me but God. So God took me to Matthew 13:24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: Matthew 13:25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. Matthew 13:26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. Matthew 13:27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? Matthew 13:28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? Matthew 13:29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. Matthew 13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn. So, this was the potion of the bible that settled the issue for me. Pls. when you come to church refuse to look at anybody. always learn to look onto Jesus, he is the author and finisher of the christian faith. Don't look at any pastor or church member even if he/she is your friend. Let me also remind you that it is such a great thing to desire to be close to God, But God is restraining you from Joining Jehovah witness. I don't know where you are in Lagos but look for any Bible believing Church and Join; you can Join: Redeem Dipper life Assemblies of God TREM Church of God Four Square winners Choosing Anglican Church Methodist Church etc. But As I said when you go there don't look at anybody live your life the way Bible tought you. I don't have enough time to tell about Jehovah witness. Jehovah witness was formed Charles T. Rusell (Find our about the Man). Jehovah's witnesses are generally good people who strive hard to please God. While they are misguided, they have good intentions. If they come to your door, be courteous, even if you're not interested. Keep in mind that they are not being paid for going out to your door and that they only seek to please God. Jehovah's witnesses are thoroughly educated in using the Bible. They are trained in using the weakness of church doctrine to gain the interest of a potential convert. An example of such weaknesses are the trinity and the divinity of Jesus (pbuh) doctrines. These teachings do not exist in the Bible. There are, however, many verses that contradict such teachings. A Witness will normally begin by asking what you think of the state of the world today. They then segue to the Bible, and eventually lead the prospect to one of the area's they were trained in. Jehovah's Witnesses meet five hours a week, usually spread out to three meetings. One of the meetings is solely meant to teach and prepare witnesses for their service work (or field work). Once a potential shows interest, they are offered a free home Bible study, and may even begin to attend meetings. That is how it begins. Before long, they may be baptized and accept the Watchtower as God's organization. The Witness never realizes that they never tested or questioned the organization. But you see, they will enjoy visiting you when they discover that you are not matured enough in Christian faith. Please check out more about the founder so you can see the kind of person he was. Considering what they believe they are not Christians. Pls. before I summarise, see what The Bible has to say about them. 1 John 2:18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. 1 John 2:22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. 1 John 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. 2 John 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. So, actually they are the same with Islam except that they are more subtle that the Muslim because they look more like Christians. Remember that what makes a church true is what they believe and what they teach. NB: Jehovah witness people knowledge of the Bible is actually limited becouse they limit them self tyo the area that suit their teaching. So they can stand a mature Christian that know the Bible. I can tell more more about them but no time for that now. But you can still ask any question. Finally don't Join Jehovah witness if you want to go to heaven. |

I can make my points clearer if need be. I try to be mild since I'm no ready to ague with any watchtower yet. But here is some of known facts about watchtower(Jehovah Witness) The Jehovah's Witnesses religious movement was founded by Charles Taze Russell (1852-1916). As a teenager he rejected his Presbyterian roots, joined a more liberal Congregational Church, then left this group as well. He denied the deity of Christ and the biblical teachings on hell and eternal punishment. Russell had no formal Bible training, but borrowed and built upon various teachings that were popular at the time. For example, Adventism influenced his denial of hell, and a splinter Adventist group led by N.H. Barbour aroused his interest in end time prophecies. From Barbour he borrowed the belief that Christ returned invisibly to the world in 1874, and that 1914 was the year the world would be destroyed and the Millennium would begin. In 1961 the Jehovah's Witnesses released their own translation of the Bible, The New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures (which has previously been published in a multivolume set from 1950 to 1960). [, ]Members are encouraged to study the Watch Tower Bible in conjunction with the other Watch Tower publications and discouraged from studying the Bible by itself. Josh090:Are you a Jehova witness? Do you Believe that Jesus is the son of God? Young Jehovah witnesses may say they believe that Jesus is the son of God but their mature members (Who understand the meaning of "son of God" do not believe that Jesus is the son of God.So, if you answer the two questions above I will know how to help you. But in a nut shell. JW is been operated by the spirit of the Antichrist that is what John is saying. JW did not believe that Jesus is come in the flesh; 1 John 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. If you need explanation of the verses from John, let me know then I can explain. |

Re: Will I Be Making A Mistake By Becoming A Jehovah's Witness? How is that a mistake? Religious judgement. @least they don't scam member's ask for money donation like most of other churches in Nigeria/Africa. Don't ask the church memeber to provide Hummer and private jets for em. Plus they are frendly I love them and Mormon. Oh Anglican + Catholic |

Ozichim:Where did you get that from, i have heard a lot said about us, but this one is unique and very funny. Please people should just ask witnesses directly what they believe and they would get the correct answer. You listed some Bible-believing churches but all those Bible believing church don't teach the same things. In fact when we discuss with them and starts quoting the Bible, they start talking about what their pastors said and different revelations of diverse origins, especially personal revelations in dreams and Angelic visitations. If you want a people that defends the Bible as the final authority on religious matters, it is the witnesses. You said we don't encourage reading the Bible, that is too much of a lie, thousands of kingdom halls and JW branches all over the world have a sign board that says 'Read God's Word the Holy Bible Daily'. |

After all been said. Freecocoa,i think you should be able to decide now because this thread will continue as a debate between witnesses and non-witnesses. To my witness brothers and sisters, you all know well that we only and only discuss bible with right hearted people and not people that are quick to judge and not think about the prove you gave. I will suggest we desist from giving any further prove to anyone including Freecocoa and let him decide and feed us back on his decision. chikena. |

TrueSeeker: MyJoe, though I always admire your responses on this forum, I have no choice but to differ with you on this your assertion that Jesus did not ask anyone to preach from house to house. In light of the scriptures sighted below I am more than convince that house to house preaching is a form of teaching that Jesus commanded to his disciples and that the early Christians admonished that way of Jesus teaching. |

MyJoe: Your closing summary is tendentious and uninspiring. The supercharged quest55 said I failed to get it because I lacked the Holy Spirit. Now you say it's because I don't preach. Why do you people resort to this when there are no facts to rely on or logic fails and the thinness of your argument becomes clear? |

MyJoe: Your closing summary is tendentious and uninspiring. The supercharged quest55 said I failed to get it because I lacked the Holy Spirit. Now you say it's because I don't preach. Why do you people resort to this when there are no facts to rely on or logic fails and the thinness of your argument becomes clear?from what u are saying it means that Jesus stayed at the first house that welcomes him to preach to the whole town as not to move from house to house? Or better still, the house that welcomes him when he came alone, he later converted the house of the person to a church where the whole town comes and listen to him. Ok, who went to invite the other people of the town to come and listen to him since he was not to move from place to place? Since JW dont go giving spiritual healing, how will they get to meet all sort of people including cripples and those that are sick for them to come and hear Jesus message that Jesus said that ALL people should hear befor the end will come? Dont you think there may be a level of inconvenience to the owner of the house who welcomed one or two people and later his house is made into a church? In the world we are living today how many people will want that their personal house be converted to a church? Will you in particular accept it? If you will not allow your private house to be turn to a church because you welcome two people why is it that you will be so set in your mind in explaining what jesus said when his interest was on reaching EVERY human befor the end comes? Are you saying that going from house to house is wrong for a message that purport to lead to life? Are you saying it is not an efficient way to reach all sort of men? Which way is then the most efficient way? Using loud speakers? For a message that all sort of people must hear and it is to serve as a witness befor the end comes, are u saying that your advocated system will be more efficient in this our world that is made up of individualism, and people being short out in there high fence houses and tinted cars? Is it possible that you are trying to justify the fact that your pride cant let you go preaching from house to house? Do you really have the interest of all people that are being extorted of their living in the name of God? I can jump into a river to help a drowning person even though i never wish to swim. Is what you are asking what it takes to show love to your neighbour as yourself? If you will not want to die but your neighbour will die for not hearing, If you see some one dying will you set this much condition befor helping him and call it love when you know they will die for not hearing? Are you aware that the instruction is that the wicked should be warn by you that knows, otherwise, the blood of the wicked that dont know will be demanded from your hands That know if you dont warn them? Which means dead to you if u dont? Well, that you were unable to do it from house to house, or your love for people or your neighbour has not reach that level does not means that you should condemn those that exert themself to do such free of charge, do you really see things from Gods stand point? all fingers are not equal does not means it is wrong to have a complete set of fingers, |

In conclusion John 14.6 Answered it all.... New International Version Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. He didn't say it's through any church ⛪, person's or congregations but through him and him alone... 2. To learn how to read the BIBLE is very simple... Go to any school of your choice that teaches the language you would like to use to read the BIBLE and ask them to teach you, learn it and carry your BIBLE nd read... Though I believe any body reading this post have already known how to read the BIBLE. 3. For the understanding... Ask the ALMIGHTY, the I'M WHAT I'M.... See you all in next life |

birdboy: @ posterWe like or dislike a course because of who we are and what we have decided to pursue. if one has decided to live life to the fullest, believing that this life is all he/she has, such person would not welcome a religion that has some restrictions because of adherence to the Bible. such a person, just like birdboy will feel sooo disappointed and sad. We need to realize the folly of writing our own script in life, or doing simply what is best in our eyes. GOD created us, We didnt create ourselves. so quite naturally, we owe him everything. We owe him respect and worshipful honour. Unfortunately the world is not designed that way. The world system is designed for us to be independent from GOD, for us to disregard GOD'S laws. The world system has affected many many people today, so that if someone tries to follow the guidance from the bible, he's opposed. In this our day, truth from the bible has been twisted, yes, true to what out Lord Jesus said before he departed to the heaven. There abound ''blasphemy'' taught as bible truths today in the churches, and many have accepted them wholly, believing them without seeking their authenticity. But while falsehood is abundant today, seeds of truth are being planted and are germinating all over the world. I've followed this thread for a while, reading many comments. The truth is, Jehovah's witnesses are in fact a lovely set people. Here are a people who have earnestly studied the bible, and are sincerely applying it in their lives. And who says if you earnestly study the bible and sincerely apply its counsel, you will not be hated? You will be intensely hated, you know why? The ruler of the world is opposed to GOD - 1john 5:19 Being a JW means standing for the truth in the bible, regardless of what happens. From celebrating holidays to doctrines to pattern of worship, there is a scriptural reference in everything JW's do. When criticizing JW's, because of the scarcity of evidence many have dug up events that happened in the past and embellished it negatively. when mentioning the history of JW's never will you here positive comments. its been 3 years since this thread was created and i will hardly be surprised that the OP progressed to becoming a JW. But if not, its just an example of how close many people will come to serving Jehovah but withdraw. |

Dear Sister, though my advice may have been late but i do give this to you. When i gv my life to Jesus then i pray to God to lead me to church nd i find myself in RCCG.wot am i saying "Let God lead" To me if i must say the Truth which i'm going to say by the Power of Christ. Jehovah witness as u say u wish to join is 100% equal to been a muslim. If you want to know which church is right learn about the Doctrines of Christ. To ur suprise Jw are antichrist,i hv chat with some nd dey couldn't answer questions i asked. They denied Jesus is Lord nd so much is dr doctrines. A frnd on 2go told me about Jw dat dey r disturbing him claiming dat only 144,000 will make heaven. Then i said to my frnd to ask only 5questions frm dem when dey come. He did ask nd by the time He asked d 5th question Jw r confused nd they leave quickly. And dats how my frnd escape their snares My Sister the only thing dat can set u free is TRUTH. If i should be quoting u Scriptures it would lift ur soul up nd teach u d way but i won't. Like i did i want u to do also No one taught me d Scripture as no one physically preach to me i learn directly from God himself. You pray a prayer of Faith to understand nd just open ur Bible to anywhere u see nd began to read nd u will be a Living testimony dat d annointing on u is enuf to teach u. My dear Sister if u wish to know more u can add me on 2go Elijah6919. Jesus help me nd i'm ready to help anyone who need help.PEACE |

I am not a jw but I have been checking out their beliefs and things and I have talked to a few of them and my bible and their bible says all the same things but just worded different and they do believe that the father the son and the holy ghost are 3 different people just like I was taught from a kid to now and I am Nazarene and I don't see where they are that much different other than they don't celebrate many holidays but they have very good explanations as why they don't.They are close family and god loving people and they do teach the word from the bible unlike a lot of churches I have been too.... |

I am grateful to Jehovah God for finding me worthy, and drawing me close (through the Jehovah's Witness organisation). I was not always a member, but I recently decided to become one due to the fact that I know that they have a better and thorough understanding of the bible than other denominations. They also follow exactly what the bible instructs Christians to do. They do not add their own ideas to the bible. If u call on a JW in Lagos, and any other one in Nigeria or even in overseas; and you ask them a question from the bible. Notice carefully that each of them will give you the same answer or a similar answer. But honestly, this is not the case with other denominations. For a fact, they are interprete the bible correctly, and I have never regretted been a member ever since I joined. My life has changed for the better, and I am protected from a lot of things. Jehovah, I thank you for drawing me towards You. Free cocoa, don't be swayed toward a wrong course by some negative comments that o have read on this thread. To become a Jehovah's With ness is the best decision that I have ever made in my life. I hope you would do the same. |

When you love the truth and hate to paint a lie to look truth, you will confirm it. One thing that is developing in our generation is one seeing the truth and not accepting it just because of one's opinion, I mean opinion not fact nor truth, just opinion. That's too short-sighted for a generation that would soon take their parents place where they're weak. Painting a lie to look truth when God's word is in our houses, too sad. If we can't say the truth as it truthfully is, what will we then feed our children. Painted lies. It pains me. But God's word does not and will never lie. Any reasoning about Chemistry, we visit a Chemistry textbook. When it comes to reasoning about God, the only book to visit with reliable info is the Bible. Any other publication is like 'tutor leading to Christ'. Woe on any 'tutor' that deviates from the direction leading to the Christ. |

do not believe that Jesus is the son of God.
whats its origin
. Father, Son and Holy Spirit are identified as distinct Persons within the one Triune Godhead (Matt.3:16-17; 2 Cor.13:14). Throughout the New Testament the Son and the Holy Spirit, as well as the Father are separately identified as God. Each has divine attributes and acts as God (Son: Mark 2:5-12; John 20:28; Heb. l :8; Holy Spirit: Acts 5:3-4; 2 Cor. 3:17-18).
