MY CONFUSING ENCOUNTER WITH AN APC DOOR TO DOOR CAMPAIGN REPRESENTATIVE

11:08am Yesterday, a door to door All Progressive Congress (APC) campaign representative knocked on my gate, I opened and welcomed her even though I am yet to be convinced by any parties manifesto. Below is our conversation.

APC Campaign team: Bros Good morning, and how is everything?

Me: I am fine and you?

APC Campaign team: I am very much fine. My brother, I brought good news for you, and that is the good news of CHANGE. I want you to support our house of Assembly member, and our Governorship candidates “Dakuku Peterside,” because they are the change we need now in Rivers State.

Me: Really?

APC Campaign team: Yes. The APC candidates get enough plan for Rivers state to give us the necessary change we need. So I will like you to write down your phone numbers so we can speak with you later via a phone.

Me: Ok. ( I gave her my phone number as requested).

APC Campaign Team: Thank you my brother.

Me: Just a minute Madam, you have actually told me so many things about your Party her candidates and your consistent reiteration of “CHANGE WE NEED,” has not stopped ever since our conversation began. But wait a minute, Why should I vote “Dakuku Peterside” for Governor and “Buhari” for Presidency?

Now here is the funny reply I got

APC Campaign Team: Dakuku Peterside is our Brother and he has lots of things he would do for us when he comes into power, like security etc. As for Presidency, I never told you to vote BUHARI for Presidency. Follow your conscience, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan na our Brother. Vote your conscience for Presidency but remember that Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is our brother.

Consider the bolded, why was she not also campaigning for BUHARI?

Is quite surprising though.The Lady was very good in convincing me but muted my thought on "Buhari's" case.

That is my encounter my dear friend. If you like "Believe it" or "Do not believe it." No one is forcing you to.

What I mean is this, Rivers is in the south south, and you know GEJ is from that same region, at least 80% votes will go to him. The fact is that, Religion and ethnicity still play a major role in Nigerian politics.
