in fact! I was disappointed...commending or condemning issues must be substantiated... the op has posted what he heard for ppl to have their say... but unfortunately ppl's disputed this perhaps they have issues with some sects/inter-denominations in Islam. .this is a platform to educate ppl n be educated by ppl... I don't like posting on here cause of arguments might emerge hence hatred for "my Omo ì ya" .....this is the environment we meet ourselves, where we say "a ku odun o,a ku jimo o, Ati beebe lo... all this do not Make one non Muslim anymore...
assalam alaykum wa rahamotu lilahi'

Ignorance is indeed a disease. The op brought evidences to support his stand, why can't guys bring yours Instead of calling it trash?
Imam al-Shafi'i writes:
"Anything that has a foundation in religious law is not an innovation even if the Companions did not do it, because their refraining from doing it might have been for a certain excuse they had at the time, or they left it for something better, or perhaps not all of them knew about it."

Its like I missed the OP's "jaw-breaking evidence" and probably you understand it better. Kindly re-present Mr busar.

Saying "Jumu'a Mubarak" is Bid'ah?! Just because there is no textual documentation to prove that the holy Prophet (peace be upon him and his household) and his companions (may Allah be pleased with the righteous among them) did it! Are you kidding me?

* Is Yaomul Jumu'a (Friday) not a day of Barakah (blessing)?

Wait a minute! Show us a single textual document (da'if or mawdoo) that the holy Prophet EVER say "RadiAllahu anhum" after the mention of any sahaba as muslims do today? He never practiced it, he never command or recommended it and likewise sahaba themselves never practice it. This is despite the fact that the phrase is revealed in several places in the holy Quran.
We only infer through our aql (intellect) that such practice is a commendable practice

* I believe you use spoon and fork to eat at home! In your weird bid'ah establishment, there is eating ettiquetes in books of ahadith, is there any textual documentation that Prophet and his companions ever used spoon, fork et al to eat?
One of your modern salafi scholar, 'Ali Jabata (in Ilorin) has declared spoon, fork et al bid'ah and haram. I hope you follow suit.

* I hope you are a Nigerian and probably a Yoruba man. And often time, you greet your parents and elders "Ekaaro, Eku ojometa, Ekaale et al". Or at work where you greet your boss and colleagues "Good morning, Have a goodday, good night et al"
Are all these "Sunnah" practice by the Prophet perhaps in Arabic-cultural equivalent?
In fact the instruction in the Qur'an is if you were greeted, reply with a better greetings or at least the exact greetings.

There are more important and disturbing concerns and issues among muslims than this petty issue.

What of the hadith that states there are some things in between that only few prople know and that this doubtful things should be stayed away from. We need to stop trying to make everything suit our preferences.
So is greeting each other "Jumu'a Mubarak (a blessed friday)" part of those "doubtful things?

Should you have doubt, the instruction from the Qur'an is: 'Ask those who know if you know not'.

The reply was to this statement of yours : Abdullah ibn Abbas was reported to have narrated from the holy Prophet (peace be on him and his household) thus:
"Whatever Qur'an declare Haram is Haram, and whatever it declare Halal is Halal. As to what it does not mention, that is forgiven for your Lord does not forget"

Chaos, unending riot, civil war, disintegration, terrorism, poverty, disunity etc in Muslim world.

busar:
What is more worse than innovation in the deen?
Absolutely nothing is more worse than bid'ah. Bid'ah leads to misguidance and hell-fire.

The onus however, is on you to define SINCERELY and intellectually (based on Qur'an and Sunnah) what bid'ah is rather than declaring Bid'ah what is not based on the interpretation of a takfiri sheik.

He must have said this because statues are Haram in Islam, you people should not just start calling people names, this is not what Islam teaches. If it was nonsense do you think someone would ask? The person asked the sheik cos he knows there must be something with regards to it

Haven't you read several times in Sahih al-Bukhari and Muslim how 'Aisha used to play with dolls of different makes when she was still young in the house of the Prophet. And ahadith said even the Prophet used to play along with 'Aisha and her friends. Absolutely, "you" see nothing wrong in this because it was 'Aisha, and the Shaikhain (Bukhari and Muslim) recorded it.

Please tell me how exactly is statue became Haram? Before the advent of Islam, the mushrikun (polytheist) used to make statue of different shape and sizes and depict them as their gods. The offer sacrifices and worship for these statues.

Qur'an made us to believe their intellect is sick for calling upon inanimate object which they carved with their own hands, beside Allah. And that is Shirk.

So if I take my daughter to the museum and I showed her the statue of say Nigerian Leaders or the depict of Nigeria-slavery era, for the purpose of education and remembrance; that is Shirk and Haram! Right?!

In medicine, statues of human skeletal system and anatomy has made medical studies of different specialities more elaborate, easier and understandable. Yet all these Bid'ah, shirk, haram-plagued Ulama continue to benefit from modern medicine. Are you still telling me statue is Haram?!
Re: Wishing Jummah Mubarak Is Bid'ah? by Empiree: 3:37pm On Jan 31, 2015
^Honestly, this isuue of greeting "Juma'ah Mubarak" is none issue at all. Where did rosul reported to have said it's haram or bid'ah to wish your fellow muslims "Juma'ah mubarak"?. Please get over this. The word BID'AH is now being used too loosely. Haba

^As for my comment on statues, I think Albaqir should put the whole thing in context. My intention at the time was, building snowwomen is a practical joke, a mere child play. It was like non-issue.

But ayesha's comment embeded with religious undertone. She portrayed it like adorable image. I had no choice but to make earlier comment. Building snowwomen (which is a mere play) was probably equivalent to Aisha(ra) playing with dolls. No reilgious thing attached.

Maybe in your own world everyone knows everything, he did not know and he asked, i see nothing wrong in that, as long as it doesnt affect anyone in a bad way, there's nothing wrong in asking what you do not know, was there ice in saudi Arabia when the prophet was alive, no, so there's nothing wrong in asking the knowledgeable ppl. @Ayesha01ad,
All your submissions are conjectures. No certainty! Today innocent young muslims feared their faith more as a result of the so-called takfiri (disbelief)fatwa rulings on virtually everything. Islam is being portray as a bogey religion. Fatwa this fatwa that! People are innocently disturbed to ask anything lest the sledge hammer of kufr pounce on them.

Women are not allowed to drive in Saudi Arabia because of an alien Fatwa with a bogey and weird "scientific backing" of a "sheik" that any woman who drive is liable to one stupid cancer. Is that Islam?!

Picture - Haram!

Statue - Haram!

Using spoon and fork - Haram!

Trousers for women despite putting on Jilbab - haram!

Use of counting bead (tasbih) - Haram!

The list goes on.

There is nothing in Islam scholars do not have disagreement on. But rather than treating issues intellectually and harmoniously, kufr is being declare at will on whoever go against or have contrary opinion. Young Muslims are not allowed to think and use their aql (intellect) any longer because fear has been instill in them deceptively or ignorantly and fanatically in the name of "kitab wa Sunnah".

The way Islam is being presented to the world by our so-called Ulama make people develop phobia for it. Islam is a simple religion that fit perfectly into human nature.

Your own opinion. I am not saying the jumuah mubarak thing is right or wrong, neither am i saying what the scholars said about the snowman is right or wrong. All i'm saying is we shouldnt call them names, that's all. I don't follow all these fatawas every time and that doesnt mean I should insult them ulamas. It's even wrong to call peop people kufar because they do not follow what you think is right, so I'm not saying they are totally right, dont get me wrong. And the women not driving in saudi is one of their fatawas I disagree with, cos even in d lifetime of the prophet, his wives rode camels, so.....

I think you are the one taking this too serious. No one is insulting ulama here. No such intention. Please let's common sense prevail on this non-issues. The fatwa in the link was removed right away. They probably noticed it makes no sense. Dont pretend there isnt growing concern about lopesided fatwas in recent time. Some ulama dont even see the need for unneccesary fatwa on non-issues while there are very important things bothering muslims that they need to speak on instead of snowomen. So no one is insulting anyone.

And it also doesnt make sense to even think of posting "juma'ah mubarak" is bid'ah. You people need to grow up. These are non-issues. Stop pretendng they are. If greeting "Juma'h mubarak is bida'h, is it allowed then to greet one another "Hi", "Hello" on Friday?. Pls, let's reasonable. Thanks.

Albaqir, i think we need to read a book written by Muhammad Iqbal (1877- 1938)

The Reconstruction Of Religious Thought In Islam(1930)
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Reconstruction_of_Religious_Thought_in_Islam.

Before you read it, make sure you have beside you glass of water with Advil, Panadol, Tylenol and Snow White. grin Great book of early 20th-century english era.

We as individual are blessed with aqil but some fellows claimed religious authority and messed things up....writing and saying things that are not compatible with what is established in Quran. This is why someone like usermane capitalizes on those issues all the time. Just that usermane's case is irrepressible. He doesnt want to reason intelligently with others.

A learned muslim know very well there some serious damages in some so called religious book besides Quran. And we dont need usermane to keep reminding us. He surely got some motives.

Iqbal made points in his book. Thanks to Allah for his Noble Book as standard for all times to come. Damages caused by those people is what we now paying heavy price for....that some muslims today can't reason intellectually to common issue raised here.

The prophet forbade statues in his life time and he said every picture maker will be asked to put life into it on the day of judgement, there's this Hadith about a curtain Ayesha(ra) used, it had a picture on it and when Jibril came he ddnt enter the house of Nabiy(saw) saying that because of the curtain he cant enter. The prophet asked Ayesha to remove it, this hadith is Sahih tho the wordings are mine. During the time of the prophet there was no plastic so obviously the dolls would be made of stuffed clothe or wool, looking deeply into this one sees that it's very different from the case of statues and snowman cos the prophet, saw, forbade making something similar to Allah's creation. You dont have to agree with me since all of us answer to our Lord independently. Wa alykum salam.

In telling you man... such ideology is very sickening. It's called "protestant Islam". Which means literal interpretation of text. Such approach to Islam blinds heart.

Same thing they did about tesbih (tesuba). At the time of rosul(saw), he would use his fingers to do dhikr. This "rigid-textual ideology" condemned tesbih for counts just because it was not used back then according to them. Very sick.
Nobody condemned tesuba, but how the tesuba is being used.
And it is no doubt based on textual evidence that using the fingers is still the best. Since the oneMuhammad alayhis salaatu wa salaam)who conveyed Islām to you used his fingers

In fact the instruction in the Qur'an is if you were greeted, reply with a better greetings or at least the exact greetings.

There are more important and disturbing concerns and issues among muslims than this petty issue.
What is known is following the textual. evidences prevalent in the Quran and Sunnah and nothing tells us otherwise.
Using Imaam Shafi's (rahimahuLlah) I statement to buttress your point of doing anything not foundational in Islam is trying to to be smarter by half.

Even the Imaam's statement was in a context not just any a passing phrase or statement.

The issue is clearly an act of worship and saying Jumu'ah Mubarak is an act of worship which falls under du'aa and we know from the prophet's statement alayhis salaatu wa salaam said that "addu'aau huwal ibaadi" (supplications is an act of worship) and anything that has no textual evidence that concerns worships falls into innovation.

And the question is,did the prophet or the companions did this "celebrated" (since you brothers are seriously arguing for it)way of making du'aa on jumu'ah day?

If it is other than what is well known without any form. if restriction then you can use his statement.
A good example. will be, can one pray on the main road.
Yes. Because there is a prophetic statement that says we should take the whole earth as a prayer place except that which is not permitted to use as a prayer place like a toilet or bathroom.
