I open this thread to give you more information and shed light into some darkening aspects of suckers procurement. It is less talked about with no details given about it but much adverts are given on sales of suckers.

I believe it is the most important aspect of plantain farming business followed by Marketing aspect of plantain

My reasons;
If you don't use good hybrid suckers, you have non-uniform harvest and higher risk of top bunch virus disease especially in ogun state and its environs and low yield.
Plantain farm is such that if you have non-uniform harvest due to any disease or whatsoever
thats what you are going to have in subsequent years meaning that you will have to restart the plantain farm again to have a profitable agribusiness.

With low or poor yield,you will have no buyer for your plantain bunch but if you make use of good hybrid suckers and you are able to get bigger,quality plantain bunch,which will do natural market for.itself when people see your bigger plantain bunch.

In this thread,i promise to share all you will.need to know about suckers for plantain cultivation.
If you dont get your foundation right (procuring good hybrid suckers), it may mar your success in plantain farming business so stay connected as i unveil it.

There are 2type of producing Tissue cultured suckers.

1.Tissue cultured plant produced through laboratory manipulation of plantain DNA make up

2.On-the- field tissue cultured suckers

1.Laboratory manipulation of the genetic make up of plantain species

This is done to produce new hybrid variety.

I will talk more on how to produce on-the-field tissue cultured suckers

Dear Mr. Lesgupnigeria, Your experience in farming concerning tissue culture technique is very very shallow, you people just want to mislead others who really interested in Agriculture, i want you to believe that, right thinking mind are numerous on this fora. My concern is those guys who are not much embedded in farming. A word is enough for the wise. Ask from Hotmas and Dr. Issa even Jethro. They know me and i dont need further introduction. Good Day.

My feeling exactly. Without any intention to discredit anyone, I remember the famous monopolist on agric issues. I followed keenly and even engaged him. It really turned out they are not really as "experienced" as they claim to be...they only use unsuspecting peoples money to learn their way through as well.
The sentiments for agric is really prime and it is very easy to sway "white collar" guys who wants a share in the pie of agric. They are gullible to part away with their money in high hopes.

Time will tell.

I didnot want to engage you initially but as i notice all your comments on my thread,i think i have to address some issues here.

I have made huge money and have lost money in this agribusiness and i have been transparent enough to admit it and what prompt me to imform people interested in agricbusiness on whats needed to.do.to make money.

I also back what i.do with evidences and pictures.
i was even accuse recently of not making money in my cassava farm which i proved by providing evidences to that.

I have register this name on.nairaland for over 3 years now and i know that if i have scam someone here,i.wouldnot have the confidence to.come over here to start posting as lots of people would have talked about how i scam them.

I once discovered that Agribusiness is not risky as people thinks.

Its risky when your risk are not being calculated

Taking calculated risk require you to know the worst scenario that will come up and then devise ways to ameliorate them.

Doing that you can.be able to invest one naira ajd then be expecting ten naira as returns.

Agribusiness is very lucrative....do it

In.few days i will be showing you scenarios that can come up in plantain production and what you can do to ameliorate them.

stay conected

I wouldn't like to go too far: Mr Soladel is experienced judging from his little statement, I support him. I'm also opportuned to have my experience there, so let me briefly explain:

People often use this words synonymously (Tissue Culture and Micropropagation)

Tissue Culture is the growing of plant cells and tissues in vitro (under glass - ect in test tubes), chemicals are induced, basically done in a lab.

Micropropagation - is producing new plants by using tissue culture means

Not all tissue culture techniques and experiments result in micropropagation. Tissue culture is used to produce chemicals from plant cells and for plant transformation experiments besides propagation.

Tissue culture is done in a highly sterile environment basically laboratory and not field. Tissue culture can never be done in a field. Macro-propagation technique can be placed on a field provided the chamber/propagator is highly sterile too. While field technique is totally on-field propagation technique.

Getting a hybrid specie, the gene has to be genetically modified using biotechological process - DNA extractions and inductions, etc, basically done in a laboratory. In other words, the genetic characteristics/traits must be tampered and modified artificially to give you a hybrid.

Most people want to invest in agriculture as a business, but are being misled most times due to basic knowledge in agriculture. Agribusiness gives a sustainable return on investment, self employment and enhanced income. It's a pity when people are being ripped of their hard-earned money by not getting a service worth their pay. As much as we have different crops and their value chains, we also have experts in different fields. Consult them, call them up on phones and ask them questions, if possible, visit them and ask vital and critical questions.

You can easily get the fake ones if they can't explain deeply and fluently using agronomic terminologies via phone interview or one by one facial interview, just like someone having a U.S.A visa interview. Don't always go by what you read online without their practical pictures. Most fake ones are good at copying and pasting without indepth knowledge. In as much as you go by recommendation, also endeavour to ask questions from whosoever you're recommended to so you can analytically compare and contrast because the bad ones might purposely blackmail and ridicule the good ones just because of their selfish and personal interest if you're unfortunate to contact them first.

You don't have to study agric before you can venture into agribusiness, but having a basic knowledge is necessary. Read books.

There are some questions which people often give synonymous answers to. Examples of the questions are:
Difference between:
* Tissue Culture & Micropropagation
* Macropropagation & Micropropagation
* Invitro Propagation & Invivo Propagation
* Hybrid & OP (Open Pollination)
* Crop & Plant
* Seed & Grain
* Fertilisation & Fertilizer Application
* Specie & Variety
* Tinning & Ratooning
