Fellow Nairalanders, I have noticed this since a long time but after today i must share on it. I was waiting to get real and visual reports on today's bokoharam attack only for news stations to just report plainly that bokoharam attacked maiduguri and ended there. Meanwhile far away news stations had their corespondents in Nigeria that had already interviewed maiduguri residents minutes after the attack. My Opinion though. |

Somehow its a form of dumbing down the masses. If our stations were as efficient as foreign countries' it'd put the masses in hysteria thereby creating doubts against the ruling party. Just as illiterates're easy to manipulate so also're informationless citizens. Lack of detailed information on nationwide events is the main reason southerners can't relate with the mass killings gripping the northeast; its easy to hear people died but hard to see images of them getting slaughtered and come to terms with the fact very little is being done. Also, it takes alot of money to pay people to report from warzones and alot more than money to reassure them accidental deaths are not in vain. |

When am in abuja I get tired of things there because don't equip the house there but my end in east no Nigerian station, I have aljaazeera although another boko haram station but better than nta and AIT that had tturned to gejs handset. France 24, press TV etc Nigeria TV is like handset in the hands of government. |

We blame so much on government when in reality nobody in nigeria is doing their duty. Media doesn't, teachers don't, police don't etc |

I thought when people ask for pics and video of some Nigerian military operations, some Nairalanders would be like "Carry your camera go Sambisa, go snap na!". Sometimes it's just too hard to explain to these types of Nairalanders, that some people should actually be getting paid to do things like this and they are called "JOURNALISTS". |
