May the souls of the victims Rest in Peace

These trailers have sent many Nigerians to an early grave.... tankers and trailers crushing and mangling people everyday angry

If the railway system is as effective as claimed, it is high time commodity transport was totally shifted to the railway line, and the presence of these trailers on our roads minimized as much as possible. ..
You talk as if the rail system will reduce the accident on the road. What happens to frequent maintenance of these trucks that ply our highways and driving education for these truck drivers.

If u had read the post u will discovered when it was said that the tyre pulled out of the truck. Poor maintenace culture

System collapse keeps killing Nigerians everyday.

Poorly maintained trucks, utilized beyond its design limit usually driven by untrained drivers on port-holes ridden roads are very common all over Nigeria these days.

VIO,FRSC,NPF etc will keep a blind eye when they see these trucks but they will be swift to harass other road users with better looking and maintained vehicles.

The tyre of the trailer coming out suggests poor maintenance.

maintenance or no maintenance, these trucks are a menace on our roads... Dangote trucks are excellently maintained but they still crush people on the express way almost every other day...

also slowly moving trucks cause dangerous overtakings which often lead to ghastly accidents..... imagine a situation where 4 trailers are moving directly behind each other at 40 km per hour, and you have been behind them for close to an hour...it is just human nature that you try to wiggle out...

if the rails are working fine, then their job should be given to the railway so as to make our roads much safer... if they are not on our roads, we wouldnt even be talking about their tyres pulling out, brakes failing, containers falling off, etc

For the records, this piece of news is not only false, but a terrible journalistic lie from the pit of hell. At the moment I am handling a building contract at Illah and due to the proximity of the two towns, ( Ebu and Illah) my work is dependent on the two communities. I even drove through this road this afternoon.

There was nothing like an accident between the Federal Road linking both towns to Abuja. No trailer is parked at the Police Station. Abeg, so na so all these media houses take dey spread false newshuh Nawa oooo

A trailer load with goods worth millions of naira, yesterday along Illah-Ebu expressway in Delta State, crushed a pregnant woman and three others to death, leaving two other persons who were by the road seriously injured.

Eyewitness said the driver narrowly escaped being mobbed by the irate youths in both communities (Illah & Ebu) where the incident occurred.

It was reliably gathered that the trailer allegedly rammed into the pregnant woman when one of its tyres pulled out while descending down the Illah hills, but, unfortunately, the driver’s bid to veer off from where the victim stood waiting for a commercial vehicle, proved abortive.

The trailer with registration number AA169SL, after killing the pregnant woman and three others ran into the bush where the driver and his conductor sustained minor injuries.

Our eyewitness further said that the victims before help came their way, died on the spot, a situation where the angry mob almost set ablaze, the trailer.

DSP Celestina Kalu, police public relations officer in the state who confirmed the incident, disclosed that the trailer driver was arrested and detained at Illah Police Division to avoid breakdown of law and order by the angry youths, including relations of the deceased.

Sources said the pregnant woman was joined in holy matrimony barely a year ago to a highly placed businessman in Illah community as she was pregnant for her first baby. Relations of the victims as at the time of filing this report , were seen at the accident scene, wailing.

Railway has never being a means to end frequent road accident but rather another form of transportation even in the developed worlds it never push trucking out of existence.

What we need in this country is proper maintenace culture and driving education
