Please. Mugabe is a relic from a bygone era. Today progress is achieved by integration and collaboration with the global community not isolation. His style of government was good in its early days but he has failed to adapt with time instead morphing into the tyrant that he is now. Being a lion of Africa is of no use if your people are impoverished.

Don't be deceived western community fights for only their own interest, they feel the can toss and play Africa like a ping pong, any leader that won't dance to their tune of music they extradite and paint black, the case studies are Gaddafi, our own GEJ (because he won't sign the gay marriage law), Mugabe, Putin, North Korean Leader and many more. Who made them Lord over all nation, to proclaim that you have a personal
understanding of what everyone should believe,
to me at least, is the height of arrogance. It high time we take care of our own affairs by ourselves without the western interference, that was what the great Gaddafi was fighting for before this same people blindfolded his own people to murder him.

Instead of taking the path of isolation and suspicion towards the west, we as a continent will be better served if we embrace and integrate with the global community intelligently. The way the world is moving no one nation can go it alone, the time is past for all that hubris that masks as national pride, what is needed now is intelligent cooperation.

This is something that Mugabe and his ilk don't understand and that's why I say he is a relic.

You still don't get it do you. No matter how religiously we drink the haterade juice against the west we won't be helping ourselves.

Look at where Zimbabwe is now because of Mugabe, the country is groaning under sanctions, poverty and want is rife over there. This is because Mugabe has persisted with his isolationist style of rule. On the other hand look at Singapore, that country has built a prosperous nation for itself, Lee Kuan Yew was able to build a strong nation despite western interference. It's all about intelligent cooperation; being able to preserve one's interests while working with the west.

Whether we like it or not the west is a powerhouse of science and technology, knowledge and information is what brings about development and this is something the west is very good at. Any nation that wants to grow will be doing itself no good by shunning cooperation with the west in these areas. A prudent leader is one who knows how to navigate the tricky waters of developing his country's knowledge base by working with the west and at the same time protecting his country's interests. This is what African leaders should do, not hold aloof because of some so called national pride.
