Imagine Punch that used to be a strong mouthpiece for political restructuring of Nigeria for good governance system now clamouring for Nigeria to be handed over to a man like Buhari - a dictator, worse, a dictator who is poorly educated. Once Buhari ever takes control of Nigeria now, he must surely strengthen the powers of Abuja politicians to lord it over all, and perhaps, this time try to control even the air we breathe, and possibly enable the retention of apex political power by Buhari clan for decades more to come.. Nigeria's democracy needs to mature, country needs political restructuring, Nigerians must not take any risks against its democracy by choosing a man like Buhari to be atop. 1 Like |

One thing the APC has successfully done is to tell us about 1 million pple that attended their rallies mean all Nigerians are yearning for a change only guaranteed in a Buhari Presidency. All their supporters have remained so confident like we got the votes already forgetting that over 60 Million voters are out there. They have called everyone who opposes their change view with some passion like in a war situation. From responses by the Top contenders, one cannot but see through why this is the prevalent issue. Postponement of election will amount to Coup - Buhari Elections are between Brothers and Sisters - GEJ From the above, one can see and feel the most desperate of the two. During the signing of accord by the political parties, Buhari commented that 'It is impossible to take power from the ruling party Legitimately' while Jonathan stated that Nigerin needs to embrace a system that discourages 'Winner takes it all' and he preaches inclusive government as much as possible (this I believe was why he called all the opposition for way forward after 2011 elections) I am worried that Fashola insists that elections must go on when less than 40 percent of Lagosians have their PVCs. The same with Rochas too. They were all happy because the North already have the highest number of voters with PVCs and as such GMB will simply win the election. Nigerians now have a new power (freedom to express our views) and we better use it to our advantage by giving suggestions to government rather than bringing it all down. No matter the President, a populace with our attitude might not get the best out of our political space. In my opinion, Nigeria is 'Work in Progress' and we will POSSIBLY not be talking about all these if we had practised democracy since 1979 till date but instead of defending democracy, it was scuttled. This postponement will calm nerves and we hope the two major contenders will preach more of peace, peace and peace. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

Both change and tranformation which one have we seen? Is it lagos state that work is been centralised only on the island? Before u ask me how?, come to Alimosho and confirm atleast it's one the lcda with highest-population, at the federal level, even with all the noise about agriculture, yet we still pay high to feed. This administration has done lot that our economy is so good, still one dollar is 210,. We cant vouch for a 3 straight hours power supply and these people are coming to tell us Nigeria will be transform in 4 years, whilst you had good 6 years, which is much more enuf to transform most sector in Nigeria. Your vote is your power, Vote wisely . |

I still dont understand the reason for all these write ups that are instigating hate against the Government.INEC didnt shift the hand over date from May 29th to a later date, they only shifted the date of election to a date which is still within the acceptable limits(meaning there is a provision for postponement of election in our constitution)in our constitution. If anyone is to be blamed i think it should be Jega Because of his conduct during the announcement(he was trying to shift blame)and he wanted to go on with the election at the detriment of up to 23million Nigerians who are yet to get their PVC's. Enough of all these Biased Journalism! Please dont stick to one source if you really want to understand what is happening in Nigeria. 2 Likes |

doctokwus: Would APC have been comfortable if the PVC collection stattistics were reading NW 50%,NE 45% NC 70% SW 70% SE 87% SS 90% Under such conditions would they have insisted on elections? If you listen to call-in programmes on rdio and Television you will hear people crying ou their hearts about their futile efforts to collect their PVCs.Jega has bundled this election and the way it is now ,the era of free and fair elections is al gone,it is now time to play dirty 1 Like |

itetemi: Nice piece but incomplete. The article made no mention of the clandestine and wicked plan of sacking Jega and installing a PDP stooge by the name of Mimiko. A junior brother to the governor of Ondo state who will readily lick the assssss of the clueless one (GEJ) and rig him back to Aso Rock. I have never despised any President in the world like I despise this GEJ or what the fork is his name again. Just hopping from church to church the way an Olosho hops from deak to deak. He was in Winners Chapel a few weeks ago. Last Friday, he was at RCCG. I'm sure the i.diot plans to attend Cele very soon. Such brazen display of desperation. One could understand if it were a performing president thats perpetrating all these abominations. But hell no. Naija has been in reverse mode for the past 6 yrs. Now you forcefully demand another 4 years Making it a DECADE OF GRAND LOOTING, BACHWARDNESS, CLUELESSNESS, AND CORRUPTION? God forbid! 5 Likes 1 Share |

Coming from the Editorials of punch further smashes any iota of objectivity on its part. I come from the east and I live there, I stood in the sun and let it scorch my skin because I want to be wholly involved in this election, I don't work on weekends, that's obviously the only time I have to my self. it was one of those weekends amidst many trials sometimes in 2014 that I managed to get registered and subsequently offered a temporary voters card. PVC's came out and procedures changed, collection is only at the local government secretariat and only on week days as INECs office at the LG is usually empty and quiet on weekends unlike in voters registration where they had a center at my ward. I can only get my PVC if I will avoid going to work and go to INECs office instead, I might loose my job in the process and maybe, become a victim of Immigration Job Scam. I am not the only one in this situation, I am part of the 45% without a PVC for no fault of mine and to think that Jega and his cohorts will wave us off as irrelevant still amuses me. |

PEREP: All of these are stories, you're very confident people are not yearning for change but you're shifting election, the very event that determine the people's decision. You talk about calming nerves - by postponing election? If it was held at the stipulated date, a week or two after everyone will know the result and we'll start moving on, but now there's more agitation than before because every one can see through the evil plot to rob the people of their votes. 1 Like |

A good number of Nigerians seem to have selective memories! This was how Association for Better Nigerian(ABN) under Nzeribe started to work against the 1993 election... Of us can still remember how dat democratic process was brought to an abrupt end eventually. This time around, it is Dasuki, the Military,PDP and the Presidnecy. What is more painful is how some Nigerians are cheering them on. Why is it rather difficult for us to get it right? Why would some people always throw spanner in d wheel of the democratic process of our nation? Well, some of us have accepted the shift with philosophical calmess and with equanimity. It is what happens after dis that we are looking out for. It is a scenario and we are watching closely. If dis elections are allowed to hold and d collective will of d nigerian populace is allowed to hold sway or rather reflect, we as a people would have made a statement. Politicians who would be contesting in d future would have come to terms with d fact dat d power of d people is greater dan d people in power. 1 Like |
