Obasanjo Is Nigeria's Bad Luck by Bekwarra(op): 2:46am On Feb 11, 2015
PS: This is my own opinion.
I think Olusegun Obasanjo is the bad luck afflicting this nation if there is any at all. The general connived with his abo.ki friends to rig Shagari into power and deny more credible and cerebral men like Awolowo and Azikiwe the chance to become president. We all know the economy debacle and unenviable legacy left behind by Shagari.
After that he became president in 1999 and his achievements are way below expectations. Despite being our first democratically elected president in 1999 and coupled with the goodwill and enormous resources at his disposal, what Baba Iyabo achieved was way below expectations. The old man was just junketing around the world in the name of diplomacy. Where are the roads built by OBJ, where are the infrastructures he left behind? What were his achievements in education? Agriculture? Sports? Entertainment? Electoral reforms? Job creation etc? Maybe I'm too ignorant, can someone please lecture me? At the twilight of his tenure, he did everything possible to get a tenure elongation but God and well-meaning Nigerians denied him. He left in anger by increasing the price of PMS.
He forcibly installed a sick man as president and we all can remember the political debacle that followed that. He helped installed the same Jonathan he's trying so hard to castigate and now he wants to install Buhari. Whoever he has forced on us in this country has turned out to be something else. No more Obasanjo stooge in this country. He should stop doing as if this country is his property. We rarely see Clinton, Bush and other past US presidents giving Obama problems. They've done their bits and the rest they can do is play advisory roles and give support. But our own dear OBJ can only "pull him down at all cost if he's not doing our bidding". You can't force Buhari on us sir, let us choose for ourselves this time. Sir I think there are two major reason for your antagonistic nature towards this present administration. 1. You don't want him to outperform you. 2. You still want to be a godfather to him and he doesn't want that.

In all honesty, this democracy would have achieved a lot in terms of righting the wrongs of the military days if we didn't have the misfortune of starting off with one petty unlettered crude character named obasanjo. . He was the worst man in the country to enthrust with that job and he showed us why. From a very early stage , he started disobeying unfavourable court rullings. He politicised the appointment of judges and judicial personnels. Not done, he attacked the legislature just few hours after being sworn in. Insisting on his own cadidate as the senate president and getting away with that nailed the independence of the legislature and ultimately created a monster out of the executive president.. Where he can't get his way through brute force, he bribed his way through. Today, Nigerias National Assembly earn the highest worldwide. No thanks to Obasanjos ghana must go politics.

Totally corrupt,, he appointed his loyalists to inec, turned himself into the petroleum minister while levelling one village after the other in a crude show of brute force.. He created shagari, encouraged babangida, dumped Abiola, created yaradua, dumped yardua, created jonathan then dumped jonathan!!! Modern day kleptomania in this country started under his watch, when his petroleum minister, buhari, couldn't account for upto 2 billion naira way back 70s. Public officers will later look his ottah farm and grinn with envy. Corruption has been a part of us ever since.. obasanjo, babangida, danjuma, buhari. These four just need to die so Nigeria can start afresh.. the fact that inspite of all their atrocities, they have excaped the bar beach treatment and may all receive honourable burials is a terrible testament to the cowardly nature of my generation of Nigerians.

We must try to be truthful here, it costs us nothing. Obasanjo has done more harm than good to this nation. Dude is only sounding to be patriotic. He's as guilty if not more guilty of everything he's accusing GEJ of. He disobeys court rulings at will, hound his political opponents with EFCC and to crown it all, it was under him that a sitting governor was impeached by a house in which the person who conducted the sitting that day was the former head of NURTW in that state Late Eleweomo. I'm talking about Oyo state. His administration witnessed the highest number of impeachment of "recalcitrant" state governors. The executive and legislature were eternally at logger-heads. Political assassinations almost became a daily occurrence. Now tell me a bigger BADLUCK
