The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has stated that the rescheduled general election in the country will be difficult to rig.

Benue State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Professor Istifanus Defwang dropped this hint on Friday, when he paid a visit to the state governor, Mr Gabriel Suswam. He said the commission’s preparedness for the elections and the introduction of computerised card reading machines had less than one per cent failure rate.

The REC noted that officials of the commission would not condone any act of indiscipline from politicians but would follow laid down procedures that would ensure the success of the election.

He, therefore, cautioned politicians to steer clear of corruption, adding that in the four states he had superintendend election, “it is opposition that won.”

According to Defwang, INEC was prepared for the 2015 election, adding that all materials including the card reading machines with in-built device to check fake permanent voter card (PVC), double voting and voting by proxy were on ground to check all manner of electoral frauds.

He further disclosed that Benue State had the highest zero polling unit non-collection of PVCs in the country, noting that out of the 3188 polling units in the state, 659 units were yet to collect PVCs. He stated that with the shift in the dates of the elections the commission was ready to distribute all remainder PVCs.

“INEC has the capacity to conduct a free, fair and credible election with the level of our preparation, the new card reader machine will go a long way in fishing out people who are ready to commit fraud during the election.”

He called on the state government to sensitise the people of the state to the urgency to collect their PVCs before the elections.

Professor Defwang also warned that INEC would not accept collection of cards by proxy even as he advised residents to go to the polling units where they registered to collect their cards.

In his remark, governor Suswam assured the state INEC boss that despite provocation by the opposition All Progresives Congress (APC), which he alleged, shot two of its members in Konshisha and Guma local government areas of the state, government and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would provide a peaceful atmosphere for non-violence elections.

He called on the state INEC to embark on more enlightenment on new voting system for a better understanding, especially by rural dwellers.

Obvious why the PDP wants Jega out this time around and their clamour and massive propaganda to stop the usage of PVC in the Next election, Jega have broken their back and put an end to their evil plan of rigging they have been used to since 1999.

Which reasonable person or party will find fault in the use of PVC and Card Readers in the next election except a party that knows failure looms for it and it is no longer business as usual.

BOTTOM POT. Why am taking a stay to supporting GEJ. Just few days ago,Obasanjo endorsed General Buhari as the man to deliver this nation. I was personally shocked,when I heard the news. This is because,I was expecting Baba to stay at the touch line, and leave Nigerians to study his body language. But the masquerade could not control his dance in the public market. Hence he mistakenly flogged his own mother who is also a trader in the market. Nigerians,I am left with no option than to tell us that,these ex- generals and their boys are up to something. The issue at hand is not all about the presidential seat. But rather,the national cake (oil blocks). Less I forget,is it not the same Obasanjo who woke up and hand picked his puppet 2011, who eventually grew like Joseph the messiah of Egypt? Is it not the same Obj that told us 2011,that General Buhari is too old to rule this country? Is it not the same Obj that told us Buhari is a dictator? Somebody should have a rethink like me. We must understand the preacher's language before decoding his message. If Obj can take a swift and prefer General Buhari to Jonathan,a puppet he dedicated his energy and resources to win 2011 election,then as an average Nigerian,we should have a rethink and ask our leaders what is so special in Aso Rock. If leadership is to serve the people,why is it that,the ex-generals finally gang up against their new recruit on account of change. If we're to outline the sins of Mr.President, are the ex- generals not guilty of such sins? One may ask why is SPEAKER taking a swift? Why advocating for change now, when at 72 years, you still tell your children of 50years they are the leaders of tomorrow. Why advocating for change now,when the puppet refused to give you the fertilizer deal. Why advocating for change now,when the puppet refused to jail your enemies. Why advocating for change now,when the puppet refused to rig election for your daughter. Why advocating for change now, when in your time railways were not working. Why advocating for change,when in your time,our judiciary could not delivered a fair judgement in favour of oppositions. Baba,Nigerians are fed up of you sitting in Otta,deciding their future. We want to decide our destiny with the help of God(Allah). We want to practice true democracy by using our votes to decide our future. Let the good works or antecedents of our leaders speak volume for them. Just after the presidential chat with Mr.President, we discovered that, you,your colleagues,and errant boys,are spreading false informations to pave your way to aso rock. Lastly, I challenge you Baba, # Tinubu,# Atiku ,and others to tell Nigerians you don't have oil blocks. Or you guys are not fighting the last battle to protect your oil blocks. Rigging in the next election will be tantamount to a Herculean task when the APC can boast of quality and robust membership round every polling unit in Nigeria unlike in previous election where only PDP have agents across the federation and the opposition only monitoring their strongholds.

With card readers and PVCs, every vote cast can and will matched to a fingerprint of a registered voter in that polling unit, how can multiple ballot take place when the total number of vote in that polling unit has been entered into the database immediately after accreditation in the morning, every vote to be cast is linked to a particular person and all ballot papers matching the fingerprint of everybody in that particular polling unit.

INEC under Jega has tremendously improve the electioneering process and the adoption of Card readers, fingerprint match and PVCs is indeed a giant move forward in the enhancement of credible, fair and open elections.
