The government needs to do more through its agencies to protect the lives and take responsibility of the welfare of these IDPs.

An issue like this is what the first ladies and the women in politics should draw attention to by talking and acting about such trafficking if they are to be seen as having the masses interest at heart.

Corruption is a factor that affects the rightful distribution of resources earmarked for the welfare of these IDPS and as such we as citizens have to keep shouting at the rooftops for the government to fight corruption which is a harbinger of social evils.

This issue should not be relegated to the background subsequently as usual but remain in our consciousness as we continue to tell ourselves and others that somewhere a child is being sold into slavery and its in our humanity to do something to change it.

I am now aware of the identities of some northern kids who usually approach me to beg for money whenever I drive in to TFC Festac branch to buy bread and other confectioneries.
About two of them met me late one evening, as I was about driving out of the above eatery to beg me for money; it was almost 9pm and I had to ask them where their parents were, a question they could not provide an answer to as they could neither speak or understand pigin English.
The two children above were aged, about 6 and 9 years old.
Its obvious that they could have been bought from one of the IDP camps by human traffic agents and brought to Lagos to beg for alms for their slave-masters in return for feeding and accommodation.
The Federal government should look seriously into this ticking human time-bomb issue because the trafficked children can graduate from their present jobs of beggars, house-helps etc into full-time Armed Robbers, Prostitutes and drug-sellers or Lords.
The government needs to act fast to save those children from a life of anguish,poverty and pain; this will also stop them from being a menace to the society.
