Every single 'achievement' listed by GEJ is either exaggerated or an outright lie. From 25000 KM road, to Ebola, to 12 universities, to YouWin, Sure-P, almajiri school, etc. GEJ should be lucky that APC is not picking holes in these lifelines GEJ is holding on to. How else does one rationalise a government that wants to use IT to curb corruption but is afraid of electronic card reader by INEC. |

justme002:no need to get emotional or allegorical.minister of works says 61 roads have either been rehabillitated,re constructed or undergoing construction.my analogy is simple.lagos-ibadan is 140km.benin-ore is 145km.thats 285km and those roads arent even completed.he'd need to construct almost 100 of thhose 2 to meet 25000km.where are the roads? |
| Re: Has GEJ Really Constructed 25,000km Of Roads? by bokohalal(m): 9:42am On Feb 19, 2015 |
Rad1cal:Bros, there is a difference between REHABILITATED and CONSTRUCTED. |

Is rehabilitating the same thing as "fresh" construction?? Is Benin Ore resurfacing part of the "constructed"? |
| Re: Has GEJ Really Constructed 25,000km Of Roads? by Rad1cal: 9:44am On Feb 19, 2015 |
saintkash:Rehabiitating roads involve construction, rehabilitation goes beyond patching potholes . the Benin Ore road was rehabilitated. Fashola in Lagos has claimed contructing over 300km of roads which involves over 95% of rehabilitation. How many new roads did he construct ? |

Delafruita:2008, i could remember Onitsha and Owerri road but today it is clearly different. Initially before now if you wanted to travel to Nsukka from Onitsha, you have to go through Night mile but now you could go through Umuneri through Uzo-uwani local goverment then to Nsukka. Quite a shorter route. You don't know this stuffs probably because you don't travel wide. From what i have seen i am certain that in the aspect of transportation this administeration has been improving things but i want them to improve more. |

Rad1cal:I have sir. The link actually pointed me to a presentation on the power sector reforms. But there was another slide deck by the Ministry of Works on road projects in 2012. Do you have a more recent presentation to share? That would help us verify the statistics. |
| Re: Has GEJ Really Constructed 25,000km Of Roads? by bokohalal(m): 9:52am On Feb 19, 2015 |
Rad1cal:Make, create, build = construction. Leave Fashola alone for for now as we are talking about the phantom 25,000 kilometres of road CONSTRUCTED by Goodluck Jonathan. |
| Re: Has GEJ Really Constructed 25,000km Of Roads? by Delafruita(op): 9:53am On Feb 19, 2015 |
cooljude:i wouldnt want to say u lack comprehension skills else how will you keep failing to get the point.its not in doubt that GEJ has worked on roads, but are those roads up to 25,000km as claimed?onitsha to owerri is 78km.GEJ will need to construct almost 310 of that road to make 25,000km.the question is has he constructed or rehabilitated up to 310 of onitsha-owerri road? |

Immune1:I do not believe the claim, but any reasonable person will understand that unless the bulk of freight haulage goes by rail instead of road, those roads will still decay as we have seen time and time again. So far, there has been no meaningful decrease in the haulage of goods by road. #change #GMB #APC |

| Re: Has GEJ Really Constructed 25,000km Of Roads? by martin98(m): 10:04am On Feb 19, 2015 |
Delafruita:The reason why people won't believe the road construction claims is because the way the state and local government abadon their own portion of roads. Most people dont travel around the country and when they travel or move, they mainly access the state and local government roads. You would testify to the fact that the state of our Federal roads are better under GEJ. And we know it is all over the country. If I may ask, what is the land mass of this country? Is it that the road capacity in Nigeria is not more than 25000km? Since people in every state in the country would testify to the improvement in the condition of Federal Government roads, why is it hard to believe or are you doubting the fact that Nigeria has over 25000km of Federal roads? I just wonder why some people would always claim GEJ has done nothing. Many have been brainwashed. Many believe this government has done nothing. And when you state the things they have done, they wouldn't want to believe and some would attack you and some would even abuse or cause you. Hence, the need to advertise. The need to make people see things are different from what they have heard. I believe something, "people will always question the good things they see about you, but will always believe the bad things they hear about you". |

Rad1cal:What?!! Are you saying that "rehabilitation" and "construction" mean the same thing?! |
| Re: Has GEJ Really Constructed 25,000km Of Roads? by Delafruita(op): 10:06am On Feb 19, 2015 |
Rad1cal:fashola's claim was correct because fashola was referring to inner city roads which are mostly constructed with interlockin stones.those roads where constructed from scratch and created as alternative routes to major routes.examples include the aggboroko-igbo-elerin road which enables drivers bypass traffic at iyana-iba and okokomaiko when connecting from lasu-iba expressway to badagry expressway.another bypass on that same route is from iyana-school to anibaba-iyana-isashi which achieves same purpose while another on that same route is from iba jumction to aratumi to anibaba-iyana-isashi which also achieves same purpose.another currently under construction is from ipaiye to inner aratumi to iyana-isashi.all those listed routes achieve same purpose of been alternative routes and they were all constructed from scratch and thats just from one route.i can list many others like that |

bokohalal:Why should we leave Fasola alone when he hypocritically critique the FG on this regard. |
| Re: Has GEJ Really Constructed 25,000km Of Roads? by Immune1(m): 10:09am On Feb 19, 2015 |
Change2015:Get an engineer's perspective on the design/finishing of GEJ roads!!! The railway system will soon be privatized; what government is doing now 'in the road context' is building roads and running ABC transport and CHISCO..........its not sustainable on the long run. But nonetheless goods and humans are already being transported by rail; you can research further and find out the freight that leaves Apapa by rail and the people transported daily. |

Delafruita:Will you stop lying, how many inner roads in Lag were paved with interlockung stones and how many of those roads were started from scratch. You are talking to a resident lagosian. |

| Re: Has GEJ Really Constructed 25,000km Of Roads? by Reptyle(m): 10:17am On Feb 19, 2015 |
Rad1cal:But going by the discussions on this thread, no one has been able to state for a fact that this government has constructed or even rehabilitated 25,000km of roads across the country. The link you posted for instance points to a presentation on the power sector reforms and most other respondents have only reacted emotionally with no attempt at concrete proof. See why a Fashola would speak the way he did? |

| Re: Has GEJ Really Constructed 25,000km Of Roads? by Delafruita(op): 10:20am On Feb 19, 2015 |
martin98:i agree the federal roads wear a better look.however, total roads in nigeria including paved and unpaved roads is about 200,000km out of which about half are paved.of the paved roads,FG owns about 30% while it owns about 40% of unpaved roads.its an established fact that GEJ didnt work on any unpaved roads.going by the figure of 25,000km,it means GEJ has rehabilitated almost all federal roads in nigeria.within lagos alone, the major federal roads are badagry, ikorodu and apapa.fashola is reconstructing badagry and ikorodu,fg did little work on oshodi-apapa.and thats lagos alone.many states have come forward to say they constructed federal roads and shuld be reimbursed.so where exactly are the 25,000km roads? |
| Re: Has GEJ Really Constructed 25,000km Of Roads? by Rad1cal: 10:25am On Feb 19, 2015 |
Reptyle:Did you even bother to objectively study the presentation to arrive a figure even though it is dated ? The presentation had status of ongoing projects which can easily be disputed by well informed folks |
