Nigeria's instances of rape don't come close to what happens in India.

India has deep seated social issues that have lead to this situation where young women cannot travel in many parts of their country without fear of being attacked.

Everyone needs to know the dangers of moving around in India, women especially.

This lady has my complete sympathy but my question is always this - why do people assume that places that they are not familiar with are safe, young ladies especially?

Aside from the numerous cases in tourist hotspots like Goa, I've read stories of Western women being raped in the Indian bush because they decided it would be a good idea to go camping in a strange place.
