for me I'll divide it like this
(2+1) i
2(2+1). ii
6÷2(2+1). iii

from i, we have 3
from ii, we have 2*3=6
from iii, we have 6÷6=1

note I think the O in BODMAS signifies multiplication thereby d reason for the above

The rule is when you have two operations with same level of preference(like +and - or * and / ), you go for the operation that comes first which in this case is the division.
The direction is from left to right when there is a tie in preference.
