Honestly, I'm tired of all this. Let election just come and go sef. Everyday 'sources' 'sources' 'sources', allegations without proofs etc.

The president has no constitutional power to remove the INEC chairman, as reported by this same people. Last I checked, the APC is now the majority of the house so why fret over something they have the power to decide. No need smearing the office of the president.

This is a democratic country, not a dictatorship or absolute monarchy like Botswana.

This is the most sensible input by a NAIRALANDER of late. If he is required to leave based on the tenets of the constitution, so be it. The president has no intention to take him out but the constitution will . #jegamustgo

Jega is going on routine terminal leave. Maurice Iwu did the same. It's standard practice.
''Jega has a five-year tenure which is renewable under Section 155 of the constitution. There is no provision for sabbatical or terminal leave. He is not a civil servant to be ordered by the head of service to proceed on leave and in any case, you can't go on leave when the basic duty for which the constitution has appointed you is being performed. So there is no room for resignation or sabbatical leave''. - Femi Falana, SAN

That is Falana's opinion. It does not make it right.

I have utmost respect for men and women who can never be compromised. Jega is one of those people who can never be compromised when discharging their duties. Jega is a man of honor. He should hold his head high.

It is now left to our competent lawyers to show this lawless president that there is law that says INEC Chairman is not a civil servant that can be asked to leave his post without the 2/3 of the Senate agreeing to it. Jega is not being paid by federal government. Jega is not a civil servant. The law only grants the president the power to nominate INEC Chairman. Power to nominate is different from power to appoint or sack.
Jega is honest yet millions would have been disenfranchised assuming his "preparedness" claims is towed

What an honest man

Based on precedence; YES my opinion is more plausible.

Knowledge is not infinite but common sense is not common. This may explain your views.

Why should anyone blame Jega when southerners believe they know it all and ignore their basic right to vote when they refused to pick up PVCs? It is not the fault of Jega that people are not picking up. Southerners are just too busy with making money. My own people did not even care to pick up PVC until about January 30th after I called them several times to do so. It was my mum who went with my dad's and brother's temporary cards and international passports to collect their PVCs for them. They released the PVCs to my mum on my brother and dad's behalf.

No one should blame Jega for that.

Seriake Dickson bemoans the apparent reluctance of Bayelsans to pick up their PVCs - see today's news.

Is that Jega’s fault?

Period... His allegiance to Nigeria is in doubts. Thus he is no more fit to perform national duties since the same regional bug that bit Buhari when he was PTF chairman has bitten him. Bug that made Buhari execute over 80% of PTF project in the North.

Same bug that made him cancel Lagos metro line when he was a dictator has bitten Jega. Otherwise how do we explain the disparity nature of PVC distribution in the north and southern part of Nigeria? #jegamustgo
it is GEJ allegiance to Nigeria that is highly questionable , he should not just play God cos Arab spring will too small to what he would face if the clueless one tries to remove Jega.

Not all eligible voters got registered in 2011 when the same Jega conducted the election that brought in Gej. so why the sudden hysteria n paranoia about card reader, free n fair election PVC n Jega? except the clueless one n his gang of thieves want to go rogue. and for your info we are damn ready!

Not in this lifetime bro. I challenge the president to try it n see if he, and David mark who is pushing him but planning to impeach d president in order to succeed him after d consequent unprecedented public wrath, would be able to handle the inferno around their balls! Yea it has come to that! General March4 Buhari!

Same was said for Sanusi. Falana can head to court if and when Jega goes on terminal leave.

It surprises me dat Buhari has been missing for over two weeks now and sahara reporters are not reporting anything abt it but rather focusing on Jega and GEJ.

When PEJ was flown abroad for medical treatment sahara reporters were trailing her. Why are dey not doing so in GMB case, I smell wayo.
