Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Senator Bala Mohammed, on Thursday, disclosed that new residences being built for presiding officers of the National Assembly will cost N27.1billion.

The minister, who made the disclosure during his 2015 FCT national budget presentation to the House Committee on FCT, chaired by Honourable Emmanuel Jime, added that presently, the project had reached 58 per cent level.

The minister, however, added that a balance of N15.3billion would be required to complete the project, saying the projects specifically had two components which entailed the provision of residences for presiding officers of the National Assembly, which comprised the main building, ADC's House, Guest House, Staff quarters, gate House, Banquet Hall, Chapel, Mosque and the Power House.

He further disclosed that N1.5billion was appropriated for the project in 2014, while N164.2million was actually released, adding that N11.8billion had been paid till date.

According to him, N2 billion had been proposed in 2015 for the project.

It's absolutely disgusting that the government blatantly builds billion Naira houses for a few individuals, a vast majority of her workers are paid a paltry N18k minimum wage.
God is watching.

News like this always makes me angry,
We are wasting this oil money like there is no tommorrow, forgetting that oil could be selling for 10$ in the next 10yrs, i always say incase oil becomes worthless today, what could we point out as what we did with the oil money, is it the epileptic power supply, or the bad roads or the tokunbo trains?, countries like Saudi Arabia, Uae, Russia, Norway etc, have saved billions of dollars of their oil money, so that if a day comes that oil becomes worthless, the have what to fall back on, same cannot be said of our leaders, who are only after 'wetin to chop'

One can only imagine the outrage in some other democracies if the citizens find out that their national government is spending $135 million on the official houses of some members of the legislature. It's really crazy.

This is exactly what you deserve when you spew 'GEJ till hell freezes over'.

While civil sevants training have been cut and projexts stalled due to lower revenue, these PDP bigwisg are still treating themselves to palatial mansions.

Nigerians, the choice is yours to vote out cluelessness, impunity and a very corrupted govt on March 28.
