Volunteers Needed To Wake A Sleeping Giant (nigeria)- Pls Volunteer by wumiabo(f): 4:09pm On Nov 28, 2008
Hallo everyone,
We have discovered a sleeping giant by the name Nigeria who has been sleeping for the past years. She is presently located on the coast of west africa. She used to be the giant of Africa but started sleeping some years back through bad leadership and corruption. We have employed people in time past to help wake her up but alas they sent her into coma.

The President of the United States - Barack Obama, a well respected stateman directed us to nairaland. We understand that there are vibral youths like Obama here who can help us wake Nigeria up and build the nation successfully, so we decided to advertise here. These are the qualifications of volunteers:

1. Love for Nigeria
2. Believe in Nigeria
3. Dedication to duty
4. Honesty
5. Steadfastness
6. Leadership qualities
7. Hope

and many more. Can you let us know in a few words why you think it has taken the giant Nigeria so long to sleep and what you will do to wake her from the coma if recruited as a volunteer.

All your contributions will be highly appreciated as Obama mentioned that there are more intelligent people than him on this forum.

Best Regards
Operation Awake the Sleeping Giant (ASG)

Wumi,

This is a very laudable project and I admire your initiative. Yes you are correct, we have many problems in Nigeria that we need to address and fix. One of them is authenticity and trustworthiness. Throwing Obama's name behind your cause will definitely liven people up and cause them to volunteer. However, if people signed up and your program turned out to be bogus, then you have not only added to the problem we have in Nigeria but you have equally dented Barack's name and damaged the spirit of those signing up to volunteer. As a precursor I believe you should present credible authorization that can be independently verified for who you say you are and who your sponsor is.

Do you agree?

Dear Negro,
Am amazed at your shear inability to comprehend what this tread is all about. This also portends on the obvious lack of understanding somewhere.

Its very clear that this is a prose like analogy to portray Nigeria and a cry for help from the youths. Or is it where am coming from and where you are coming from. Lets take the issues, 'sleeping giant' is not Nigerias name, or is it. I would think anybody will know that if this is real and am trying to get volunteers then it wount be here.

This is a social networking forum and this thread is just to get youths to discuss the Nigerian problem and solutions. the language of the thread makes it obvious what the good intensions are. For you to take it the way you did means you are very negative. Nobody here is using Obama's name for wrong doing. Instead of people talking about unprofitable things, we can in this forum form a forbidable youth that will profer solutions to Nigerias problems which hitherto our leaders have not been able to achieve.

A piece of advise - see the good in all things and all people until proved bad.
THIS IS NOT AN ORGANISATION JUST PROSE TO GET PEOPLE DISUSSING NIGERIAS ISSUES.
Whatever is discussed here ends here - or maybe someone in the corridors of power will one day come and read this and use it to help solve the many sided problem of Nigeria.
Lawyer Negro, dont arrest me o!

You can't fix Nigeria unless Nigeria wants to be fixed.

seun from my state, i totally disagree with you. We cant continue like this. Someone has to take the plunge and maybe its you Seun. If all of us the good people decide to 'leave matter' and not be concerned then we are all in trouble. We have to decide to get concerned.

let me give you the instance i heard of a top politician that someone went to meet in Abuja with 100s of Cv so that he could help the people from his constituency to get jobs in the ministries. the politician was relunctant and said, 'ha, there are no jobs, the civil service is not emplying now'. the reply he got was that, 'ok there are no job, but all these people whose Cvs are here could become armed robbers and even if they dont attack you, because of the police men always surrounding you, they will attack your children, and your children's children.' i was told the politician was very shocked to hear that, he promptly collected the CV's and got job for most of them.

So Seun, sometimes we have to be proactive, take it head long and do something about the situation, even if it doesnt affect us now, we may run abroad, what about our childen, and our childrens' children. I tell you it wasnt easy for Obama to fight the fight of faith he did. Some people will not even try because of fear of failure but its better to try and fail than to be seen not to be trying at all.

Develop a dream of the Nigeria you want, talk about it and it will come to pass.
THE AUDACITY OF HOPE

Wumi,

My response to you was actually a sarcasm. I wasn't serious about the call for authentication, sorry you mistook it that way. Next time I will add some emoticons to soften it.

Trust me, if I thought you were serious in it I would have given many inputs. I knew what you intended with your post and lets just call it a game - a mind game for those that find pleasure in it. grin

There was this other post - " Its time for a revolution " . The Irony is revolution has already started.

1. The fact that Oshiomle won the election in Edo State is a milestone in Nigeria Politics.

2. Young revolutionalist and volunteers lend your expertise to this popular Governor, be it you are Yoruba, Hausa, Ibo, or any other ethnic group lend your expertise to this man.

3. Revolutionist the world over needs a foothold somewhere. If Edo state is the foothold to change in Nigeria then all comrades come to Edo state and make it the El-dorado of Nigeria.

4. If the foothold succeeds then like a wild fire the gospel of change will impact on other states, even the ruling party PDP will not know what hit change.

5. Barrack Obama's election is based on change and like a wild fire it swept the board.

6. Chei Guavera the popular revolutionist that died in Cuba fighting with Fidel Castro, he was not Cuban he was Argentinian. But his mantra was based on if we can succed in one country the Gospel of change will spread into other latin American countries, but unfortunately he died.

7. This is the reason why I said you do not have to be from Edo state to contribute to its success. A success their would have created young revolutionaries of Yoruba, Hausa, Ibo, and all other ehtnic extractrion who will take the fight to their respective states and before long a sea of change will sweep Nigeria.

8. Comrades if you truely beleif in the spririt of revolution and volenteering then approach the governor and make him the a de-facto figure where the revolution will be born and the gospel preached and spread and before long PDP will not know what hit them. Long live Nigeria, Long Live Oshimole.

9. Lastly I am not from Edo state, I am a yoruba nationalist but beleif in change and I see this popular governor as a spring board for change in Nigeria. I do not even know him. So Comrades get on board.

I am surpirsed and amazed its a female that is this courageous and ambitous, Well am not too surpised as it was a female that stood up for Liberia and the same women are the ones fighting for Congo and Cameroon. Anyway I don't know why you guys don't get it and come to understand what she is talking about, besides this affects all of us and its like some are just so use to the poverty or maybe to weak to have a better life.

I don't see why we can even fight for our rights and do more, wumiabo is making so much sense and with more people like her maybe their will be a starting for a change instead having so much adapted poverty citizens who don't even realise their is no future for their childrens in future, Well wumiabo u gat my back and I wish we could talk more about this, little by little bring up something, nothing at all will result to failure which is what has happened to Nigeria which might eventually lead to economical collapse or re-colonisation.

"CAN'T HOLD THE BULL BY THE HORN WHEN SOMEONE ELSE IS MILKING IT (Words of MKO Abiola)" Good saying , so why cant you just tie it down and milk it urself or better still tie down and whoever needs the milk should go for it instead of some holding it and some taking out the milk for themselfs alone, they dont even distribute the milk.

Lets say Nigerian youths that are ready to make a change for Nigeria needs to unite to form an organisation or committee with foriegn supports, Then to attach the government with full force in any way,

We have heard so much more than this in the past and we will keep hearing them but nothing changes for good.
Have you considered that it could just be that majority of Nigerians prefer the way things are because it allows them the chance to steal IF they ever get the opportunity. Most Nigerians are only waiting for their ruen to steal. They dont really want the stealing and the rot to stop.
What they want is their chance to get to the top and do more damage with the chance to oppress those who may not be at the top. When we all change our mindsets, Nigeria will change. It doesn't take any magic

Before the White Paper is published to authenticate all relevant MODALITIES of waking up the sleeping giant, enquiring minds want to know how and where the mobilization fees will be disbursed, along with all details regarding which particular London and New York hotels will be booked to accommodate the fact-finding delegation of 500 pot-bellied dignitaries and their extended families.

Furthermore it is imperative that government bows to the wishes of the people by choosing only the very latest model "S" Class Mercedes Benz flagship for the fleet of official cars to be issued without documentation to the Giant Waking Instrumentality Board members.
