When the then commissioner started the race for the top job in Akwa-Ibom , with the campaign slogan "lets Godswill be done" not many gave him the chance to clinch the candidacy ticket. Owing to the fact that he had to contend with numerous aspirants including a deputy governor he served under and the son inlaw to the seating Governor Obong Attah.
As fate and hardwork would have it , he did not only get nominated he also went ahead to win the election under the PDP.
His major aim was to transform and unknown destination . A state barely heard about to a state that is now seen by all as the blue print of Nigeria in years to come. This he achieved under the theme and widely popular slogan "UNCOMMON TRANSFORMATION"
As we conclude another 8 years of governance at states level. I decided to make a brief survey of the governors that are vacating leadership , as well as making a comparison.
From my point of view and opinion. I think Godswill Akpabio is the Best Nigerian governor in the last 8 years.
Here are just a few photos from his uncommon transformation plans for his his state.
And the high point of it is that, despite the fact that he has just a few months left in office, and when other Governors are neck deep in campaigns , the uncommon transformer is bent on actualizing all the projects he started as works are still on going in earnest across the state. As he has promised to commission all his projects before the hands over the batton of leadership.

He invested in infrastructure that is commendable but is it sustainable for the economy? He spent money frivolously and owed workers their salaries sometimes up to 5 months in a row. He tried but best? I dont think so.

the atate govt amongst other primary health care institutions has finshed the construction of the 29th anniversary hopsital . in partnership with john hopkins university hospital USA. They have trained about 150 doctors from Akwa Ibom which will be used in running the hi-tech hospital .that can undertake major transplants and surgery. With the best trained doctors. The hospital as the stadium has 10 maintainance contract attached to the project.
This will turn out to be one of the best hospitals in Africa. With the hope of reducing health tourism among wealthy nigerians

Yes, he is. Could he hav done more? Sure.
He sure do raise the bar. All the governors who are trying appear to be copying him. That's his greatest achievement - raising a consciousness of performance among other governors.

Development to me is measured by the provision of basics like infrastructure , good roads, education , health and above all.. an enabling environment for growth, employment generation and investment .
