But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth (Acts 1:8 ). Some people say, "A prayer-less Christian is a powerless Christian". But power doesn't come by prayer. In the New Testament, the word "power" is frequently translated from two words, namely: "dunamis" which is the dynamic ability to cause changes and "exousia" which is authority. Jesus refers to power in our opening verse. You received it when the Holy Spirit came into your life; you didn't get it through the effect of prayer. On the other hand, 'exousia' or authority means delegated power. The effect and the efficacy of authority depends on the power that's behind it. We've been given authority in Christ Jesus to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power (ability) of the enemy (Luke 10:19). The "power" that's behind our authority is the power of the Almighty God. This, again, didn't come by or through prayer; it was bequeathed to us in Christ as our heritage. In Matthew 28:18, Jesus said, "...All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth". That word, "power" again is translated from the Greek word "exousia", authority. In the next verse He said, "Go ye therefore...." He delegated His authority to us immediately. Halleluiah! It's important for us to know what we have in Christ Jesus; we have authority in His Name! We have power to effect changes and live the supernatural life every day. I would to God that Christians would know this! What impact and changes we'll make in this world! You're fully equipped with divine power to preach the Gospel and change the world! That power is in you through the Holy Spirit. |

Pr0ton:I could, but...God has principles. You dont expect me to wave a wand and ....they're delivered, did you? Why not start by curing Ebola in LiberiaFolks like you doubted it. You'd prefer a man to get to an Ebola camp and say "y'all be healed" and bang..they are. Even Jesus couldn't heal some folks..for a reason. Find out Why not pray for the total seizing of Boko Haram that disturb your religion and kill your fellows like chickensOh! I did. And it's a victory bro. Why not start by making jobless Nigerian youth get jobI should pray for like 30million folks to have jobs... And bang...they have. #classic Are these problems too huge for your power to solveYou don't see them being changed. If you'd pray and stop whining...a lot would be much better. |

Gombs:What principles? That the girls should continue in adoption, and their parents should keep wallowing in grief? Folks like you doubted it. You'd prefer a man to get to an Ebola camp and say "y'all be healed" and bang..they are. Even Jesus couldn't heal some folks..for a reason. Find outConsequently, your power is limited. It's not the type that worths attention and capable of miracles. Oh! I did. And it's a victory bro. That it worked after hundreds of your fellow had been killed? What is the victory by the way? I should pray for like 30million folks to have jobs... And bang...they have. #classicSuch excuses. Your power is useless, imaginary and powerless. |

Pr0ton:what is you contribution regarding the situation you just listed? Have you been doing enough? I experience religion crisis, many life's is lost and soo many houses where burn, both in 1992 and 2000(twice) the church has been helpful to the needy the church I attended bought some items shere it out to those who lost there property, infacte in the refugees camp, the church feed the poor 3 times a day, believe me, I am a living witnesses of all this. All this things happened no group came to our help except the church, although the red cross provide food for few days and never return.God made some people invincible that the enemy could not see them, my pastor wife was amoung the people God saved, the enemy came into the house removed all the property they wanted to burn them(any attempt to burn the house, the fire will affect their houses) God made this woman invincible, infacte the seat she was seating on, the enemy could not see her and the seat but when she stand up, they spot the seat and bring it out. Believe me my friend,I witnesses all this, there are soo many people giving testimony how God saved them. I witness it. |

@Malvisguy212 You are asking me what my contribution is? Are you now comparing with your God? Has your God become so useless and "humanilized"? Isn't your God all-powerful and everywhere? You are asking a mere human like me who lives in the South West to intervene to the crisis in the North in order to hide your omnscient and omnipresent God? Has God become such a useless thing? I've been in a haste so many times rushing into rooms to pick stuffs spending almost a minute and totally unaware and unconscious of the presence of people in the room. Does that mean God is using magic on them too? Or it's just my nerves of rushing that didn't make me notice them? And then again, God spared your life and allowed many others' to go with the crisis? He also allowed many houses and churches to be burnt? Is this God working or nature playing its way? |

Pr0ton:when an atheists face a possibility that God exist, they started blasphemy God, your post is not the first I've notice, many atheists here acts the same way, I don't condemned you for being an atheists, but the points is that you guys blasphemy his name forgotten the facts that you may be wrong.for me this is not ordinary, there is satanic manipulation going on some where. |

Pr0ton:God is not moved by how long you've suffered, nor cried. He's moved by faith ONLY. Read the bible, he never acts until someone calls on Him for help. If the girls pray, in faith, sure...God will. But we could intercede on their behalf, and like it or not, it will turn out for good. Consequently, your power is limited. It's not the type that worths attention and capable of miracles.Yeah, limited to the unbelieving ones. Matthew 13:58 KJV And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief. That it worked after hundreds of your fellow had been killed? What is the victory by the way?Too bad you don't understand how the devil would want to destroy at the slightest chance he gets. Christians are the only force able to keep him abay. But, a handful of them do not realize what their prayers can do, some don't know the power they weild. Worse still, are the set of folks like you who'd want to blame God, or someone for their failings. All they do is whine, complain, and grumble some more. Unfortunately, most Christians fall in this category. They complain Rather than pray.let me make this plain... God will do nothing except we pray about it. It'sin the good book, and it's so for a reason. When good folks keep quiet, evil prevail. Such excuses. Your power is useless, imaginary and powerless.Your opinion is duly noted. Ironically, you just describe your hope and faith in what you think life ought to be. There's NO hope outside Christ. The earlier you understand that, the better. |

malvisguy212:Yeah buddy. It is not ordinary. The good book knew about folks like he.. 2 Cirinthians 4: 3-4 MSG If our Message is obscure to anyone, it's not because we're holding back in any way. No, it's because these other people are looking or going the wrong way and refuse to give it serious attention. All they have eyes for is the fashionable god of darkness. They think he can give them what they want, and that they won't have to bother believing a Truth they can't see. They're stone-blind to the dayspring brightness of the Message that shines with Christ, who gives us the best picture of God we'll ever get. |

malvisguy212:It's not satanic manipulation Brah; it's recompenses for their numerous blasphemies! The more they blaspheme, the more they are kept in the delusion of disbelief as a recompense! Their blasphemies against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven without a recompense (Mark 3:29)!...Strong delusion is the judgement, which is why you see many of them confused and dead in the delusion of disbelief....Their chances at redemption are very slim because the Lord God of recompenses shall surely requite! ![]() 2 Thessalonians 2:11-12 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. Isaiah 66:4 I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear: but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not. @Nice thread @Brah Gombs! |

doubleDx:there are lot of truth in your post, I agree with you. Isaiah 6 talk about it. Isaiah 6:9-10. 9 He said, “Go and tell this people: “‘Be ever hearing, but never understanding; be ever seeing, but never perceiving.’ 10 Make the heart of this people calloused; make their ears dull and close their eyes.[ a] Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed.” |
