Hi Nairalanders,
please, a brother of mine want to travel to Germany, he needs to know the nigeria cards, visa or master "naira" that can be use abroad.
we went to FBN yesterday to apply, because he has account with them, the customer service who attended to us, said the naira master can be use to withdraw abroad, please if anyone had used it successfully without complain, let me know, thanks for response

Yes First Bank can but, GTBank is the best.
Unless you are fit for First Bank wahala (Debit without paying) followed by coming to their office to fill a form before returning your money.

GTBank is advisable.

I have used GTBank Naira MasterCard and Union Visa cards and they worked well but not in all ATMs abroad but in all Point of Sales (POS). From my user experience in about 5 countries, I will say that both are good but in terms of charges, Union is better because each withdrawal by GTB card is followed by N1,000 charge whereas Union is followed by zero charge.

I've used Zenith Visa in US and Canada (both for POS and ATM), but the exchange rate was horrible!

I use my Gtbank master card to pay for things in shops. If you withdraw cash they charge you $3 every time, so if u want to withdraw , take a large amount at the same time, so u pay the $3 once. If your shopping, use the card, they don't charge for that.

No token needed , the only thing is the charge on atm usage, so his adviced to make his withdraw @once. Using Pos no charges..The cards very reliable.

meaning Union Bank doesn't charge any amount for withdrawing abroad with their visa card! That is good, is the card also minimal in exchange rates compared to others for online purchase and settlement of funds?

The rate I observed was higher than that of GTB. When GTB card was withdrawing at about N160/161 plus the usual N1000 per withdrawal, the Union card was withdrawing around N163/164 with no further charge.

union bank debit card charges N100 per withdrawal but no charges for POS transactions.
its the most economical but not the most reliable.
