This is just unfair. It's tough enough adjusting to life in a strange country, not to mention adding the stress of not knowing whether your next allowance would be paid and when. I can bet that money is in someone's bank account probably earning interest, man's inhumanity to man. Corruption must go in Nigeria. Enough is enough.

When students sent to study by a govt get involved in partisan politics, they should expect settlement from whichever side they alligned with.

Hustle for 6 months?

Do you know some students are currently writing their projects. Do you know what it means to stay for 6 months in the UK without funding. Rent + Bills and Feeding ................
rubbish most of these students are not ready to work at all. There are part time jobs that they can do and use the money for their upkeep. I did my masters in uk and just after 4 months of arriving uk I have been fending for myself till now without affecting my studies at all. They are unserious at all

Ah...education funding at an all time low.

But this is just another aspect of the truth....that govt can no longer fund education adequately....and now oil prices have dropped.....even international students would have to cough out the money for upkeep. He he he!

But on a more serious note....Rivers State would have been MUCH richer if they had not been so oyel dependent.

Like I keep saying here, Nigerian states SHOULD stop depending on oil. Oil money for Nigeria is NOT ENOUGH. Yes....we produce oil to the tune of billions....but take away looting....and we would still not have enough cash for sharing.

That is why Governor Amaechi SHOULD HAVE from day one of his administration years ago....have invested heavily in developing his state as an INDUSTRIAL, AND INNOVATIVE ECONOMY. He should have prepared for the non-oil future. Because we can no longer count on oil....and that goes for the oil producing states as well. But no.....the good governor prefers allawee from oil....because following China, Japan and Singapore is such HARD work. No....let us spend oyel money....instead of developing industries...which would provide FAR more oil money for the state coffers AND enable Rivers to provide for all its people....INCLUDING THEM STUDENTS OUTSIDE THE COUNTRY.

So...where is River's SHIPBUILDING,FISHERIES, AGRIC, ETC industries?

Oil is a curse. Our governors are not serious. You Nigerians better make them work for you.

Depends on the country I guess.

If the terms of your visa says you should not work...you cannot work.

And even then.....you might not have time to work if your course is demanding.

If only you know the favour you will be doing yourself in the job market few months from now if you are able to have few months UK work experience on your CV by the time you graduate.

Do you know that most of them are doing their first/foundation year in a college in the UK and under the UKBA Tier4 visa guidelines, they are not expected to work.

Now what about students in places like Hungary where they are not permitted to work

I'm still hoping for a Nigeria where our politicians wouldn't give schooling abroad as a scholarship anymore.

Make una sorry. The students over here are not enjoying as well. We pay all our tuition fees by ourselves and are still made to sit at home for months. Yet, all we get is substandard education.

I hope they attend to you guys soon.
