Do you know that most of them are doing their first/foundation year in a college in the UK and under the UKBA Tier4 visa guidelines, they are not expected to work.

Now what about students in places like Hungary where they are not permitted to workhuh
so amaechi used taxpayers money to send you lot to colleges AKA glorified high schools in the UK shocked shocked SMH

imagine - first/foundation year students shocked How's that of any benefit to Rivers State/Nigeria?

I actually thought you lot were Phd students, MSc students or undergraduates of specialist courses.

who next are they going to send on scholarships - 12year olds to private boarding schools undecided

I am studying in the UK, and you are only allowed 20 hours a week to work. how would that be able to sustain you, pay rents and bills.
Do note that its been SIX MONTHS and not SIX DAYS

This attitude is very wrong and encourages stealing and corruption.

How many times have you ever heard of commonwealth or Chevening scholarship students being stranded? Only Nigerian government sponsored and you are trying to blame the students - totally wrong attitude.

We MUST hold people accountable and if money allocated for scholarships is stolen someone must be punished instead of asking if the students can't hustle?

There are many countries like the Czech republic and Russia etc. where many of these students are and it is so hard to find work compared to UK or USA. Even if they could find work, it does not take away from the fact money has been stolen.

Same way they steal people's pensions and put in fixed deposits. Would you say the old retirees should hustle as well?

When most of us first arrived here, especially in the UK.

We had to undergo Foundation in a college before we get into the University.

I can boldly tell you that we have students scattered all over the UK in top ranking Universities

Thanks

This rssda scholarship was never properly implemented from the onset.
It seemed more like political gimmick from Amaechi and his people.
How do you send a Nigerian to Czech on scholarship or sending kids to the UK to do Alevels?
I know for a fact that the fees have never been paid on time.
Instead of sending Hundreds of indigenes to obscure schools in strange countries would it not have made sense sending a dozen first class graduates to world renowned universities to do post graduate courses that will be directly beneficial to the state?
Scrap this dammed thing and bring the gullible kids home.

your stories or will i call it lies aint adding up. i know you lot need the money but there is no reason to sensationalise this issue.

you said that the reason why you lot couldnt work was because you were ''first year/foundation students''

you also said you've not been paid allowances for 6 months.

are you now claiming that you lot are NO LONGER college students but actually in the University ?

Guy please stop trying to read meaning into what you know nothing about.

1 RSSDA have students in their final year, second year, first year some in colleges.

2 RSSDA have students doing their MSC

none of them, I repeat, none of them have been paid in the last 6 months, I don't know what you are trying to form a DETECTIVE for.

20 hours a week at minimum wage is around 120 pounds a week or 480 pounds a month.

Are you saying you can't survive as a student on 480 pounds a month especially if you live outside London?

Moreover, if as a student you don't know you should be working double those hours, then you never ready chop.

Dey there make pant wear you.

Stop making noise mister!!!
You cannot pay tuition, rent and still have anything left from working 20 hours a week!!!
If you want to try to convince me; break it down; how much are you paid per hour? and how much is your rent?how much is your tuition? talk more of bills and upkeep?
It's bad enough that one has to work and study at the time…. then you expect them to raise their tuition from part time jobs?

Tuition is paid up front or quarterly. So Tuition has either been paid up before you start, or you save up to pay. QED

Students should work 40 hours? to raise funds for tuition and rent? In the UK? Legit jobs with NI number?

There are two extreme outcomes; You will either be caught or you will reduce your chances of passing by at least 75%

I'm also a beneficiary of the scholarship...since june last year, in pursuing his political ambition over 200 of us have been left stranded at home. With no idea as to when we'll be going yto school. Really sad and annoying as some of us left our universities to join the scholarship.

I'm still hoping for a Nigeria where our politicians wouldn't give schooling abroad as a scholarship anymore.

Make una sorry. The students over here are not enjoying as well. We pay all our tuition fees by ourselves and are still made to sit at home for months. Yet, all we get is substandard education.

I hope they attend to you guys soon.
There is nothing wrong with governments giving scholarships to students abroad. That has been the case for years....especially in educationally disadvantaged Northern states...who sponsor their students heavily....both at home and abroad.

The issue is education funding....which is linked to the fact that thanks to Nigeria's dependency on oil...we may not have enough money for anything....especially education.

Which is why I am angry with many of our state governors for doing nothing to diversify the economy of their states. Doing so would enable them to have cash galore to meet their financial needs. But many Nigerians and their leaders seem to have this idea of the economy as one big unlimited national cake....when it is really the equivalent of a N100 loaf of bread...which has already been devastated by the looterants.

Nigeria must diversify.Oil is a curse.

Again you never ready chop. You need to fix your mentality. You don't sound like you were ever hungry. Otherwise when hunger waya you, and landlord corner you, then you will know that the hustle is real.

I worked fulltime during my final year at Uni...and I knew people then who worked 2 jobs and still finished with 1st class and 2:1.
