IamZinah:Stay there asking questions. It is a foolish man that puts himself in a situation where he has no options. When hunger bites, they either have to hustle or go home. |

Ralphlauren:Bros I tire o! Imagine someone saying here that it's not possible to work and earn enough to survive and pay tuition in the UK. As if people don't do that in Nigeria sef. |

Ralphlauren:My Tuition is 12,000 pounds. Tell me how a student can raise that alone, and also save for accommodation, feeding and transport, from taking part time jobs. You just exposed yourself that you know NOTHING about what you were saying. Use google and show me any part time job that pays up to 12k pounds annually or you want them to start illegal and shady business so they get into problem with the immigration and police. |

If I could be fixing tiles in Nigeria while still in school and paying my fees back then, then these persons have no excuse. My God!!! They are abroad right? Lazy students. Whatever happened to Nigerians being referred to as survivors? If na Me I for don hustle and even send cars home and build a house in Nigeria. Do you know the amount of opportunities one can get in Canada? |

Nihilist:how much is the tuition ![]() ![]() £12800 per year, do the maths and tell me how you can come on with that amount. and please keep in mind that rent and upkeep isnt included in that amount. PS. also this is meant to be a 100% sponsored scholarship |
| Re: Rivers Students Cries Out Over 6 Months Unpaid Allowances by Nobody: 10:44am On Apr 02, 2015 |
Akposkool:Depends on what your visa says. Some visas prevent you from working at all in some countries. Canada eh? If I were a student I would love to study there...they allow students to work. Same for the US. |

bushdoc9919:There is everything wrong with it. If our educational system was of standard nation wide, there wouldn't be need to attach any importance to schooling out of the shore of this country. They should develop our education system here and give everyone of us opportunity to a standard education instead of sending a few abroad and spending unnecessary money to keep them there. Sebi dem don kukuma pursue some commot from school now which is a disgrace to Nigeria as a whole. And we keep wondering Why all these countries look down on us? |

Akposkool:Canada? some of you just come here and talk out of ignorance. Hope you heard the tales of those two Rivers girls in Canada that were almost deported because they worked for two weeks in a shopping mall. Majority of you think once you enter ABROAD everything is rosy, jobs everywhere. Even talking about sending cars home. Your mentality speaks much about you. No offence |

OP Unfortunately; many people on this thread don't have a passport; talk more of a visa.. But they'll be the ones to make you believe you can build a house in Nigeria whilst schooling abroad. You may have to find some other way to come together as a group and draw the attention of the Nigerian press to your plight. You should also consider using social media. You must speak up…and loudly too. It is an irresponsible government that makes commitments and fails to live up to it. Cc; Justwise…. Please is there anyway you could be of help? |

Ellacherries:Abajo...this one is a newbie. 2 bed flats in new builds just behind piccadilly station only cost around 600 a month, and discerning students sublet sef. Your mates move out to bolton, oldham, warrington and stockport to get cheaper accomodation. Cheap cheap accomodation full salford so it's on you paying 97 quid a week to live in halls. That alone tells me that you're not ready to budget. p.s I graduated in 2008 so you're talking to an igboro here ![]() Ellacherries:As you know, you cant start without having paid a sizable percentage(usually 50 percent) of your tuition fee, so the target amount to work towards is always going to be a lot smaller than what you quoted. When you bear in mind that the first 10,000 pounds in income each year is tax free, you begin to realize how much room you have to manouevre if you're serious about budgeting |

GodMode:This is not a matter of living above one's means. Even basic essentials (rent, transport, feeding) requires at least a minimum amount. They are there to study, combining that with working is going to be a distraction. I am not saying people don't work & school at the same time but my point is their assumption before leaving Nigeria is that they would be given an allowance; if they were sponsoring themselves then they would already know they may need to work whilst studying. In any case, they should be paid their allowance, that's my own. |

Nihilist:This hustle hustle you keep saying, please explain what you mean oh. Are you saying people should start doing jobs without valid permits? This is not Nigeria where anything goes. The repercussion would be deadly if they go down that route and are found out. |

Ellacherries:A lot of you are spoiled kids who have grown used to relying so much on mummy and daddy, that they don't know how to stand on their own two feet. The OP is here complaining about a government that did not and probably will not live up to it's responsibilities, instead of going out hustle to put food on the table and money in his account. So if the Government doesnt pay up for another 6 months, is the OP saying he will just sit at home moaning? Or go out and do what he has to do to survive? |

ephi123:slow down on the hyperbole ma. The worst that can happen is deportation. Now you tell me which is better. Sit on your hands and starve while keeping your visa? Or go out and look for work to survive at the risk of deportation? |

Am just amazed at some Nigerians. On my visa, they gave me only 10 Hrs PW I can't exceed that else the immigration comes for me. You guys think it's Nigeria where you can do what ever you like. |
