Is President Goodluck Really A Hero? by shidof(op): 7:48am On Apr 03, 2015
If you put yourself in Goodluck Jonathan's shoes, and you imagine Obama, David Cameron, Ban Ki Moon, etc.[Not King of Morroco] calling you and making it CLEAR that the responsibility of whatever happens in the event that there is violence following dispute over the election results will be SOLELY yours.
And the ICC practically relocating to Nigeria, Abdulsalami Abubakar "breathing down your neck", i bet you would SOBER UP and concede...

Whilst we must commend Dr. Goodluck Jonathan for placing a call to General Buhari even before the final results had been announced, we MUST NOT make the naiive mistake of portraying him as a hero...

Call me what you want, but i REFUSE to forget its 353 days! since "Chibok"; and there are probably 5 times as many young girls and women as the Chibok girls that are in captivity.

What about the THOUSANDS DEAD ?

I REFUSE to forget about the same amount as our national budget has been STOLEN every year

I REFUSE to forget bandits were handed the work of our Navy to do

I REFUSE to forget NO ONE has been punished for anything in SIX YEARS

I REFUSE to forget criminals have been given freedom to even contest and win elections to be lawmakers

Even though The Oxford Learner's Dictionary defines a hero as "a person, especially a man, who is admired by many people for doing something brave or good", Dr. Goodluck Jonathan is NOT my hero...

Part of the "CHANGE" some of us chant is to STOP celebrating MEDIOCRITY

What else are you supposed to do when you lose a contest ?

Attahiru Jega is a HERO

Channels TV is a HERO

The voters in Bauchi who PEACEFULLY but RESOLUTELY DEFENDED their votes are HEROES

Nigerians, who braved the odds[WEATHER, LOGISTIC CHALLENGES, INTIMIDATION, etc.] and VOTED are the HEROES

The same people calling GEJ a hero are the reason he lost. They have been lying to him from the start.

How is he a hero?? Cos he had no choice than to congratutlate buhari after he saw that he had no chance of making out 2.5 mill votes

Even the phone call sef, it was as if he was persuaded to say what he said

I just praise him for conducting a free and fair election(which is his duty afterall)

Some think that he is. Some think that he's not. Different strokes for different folks.
Below is what I shared on another thread earlier today:

DaGC:
But seriously, conducting 2 credible elections in your tenure is something rare, especially in Nigeria.

2011 was adjudged to be the most credible then, before it was surpassed by 2015's own.

And instead of a violence filled post election as widely expected around the world, we have peace. smiley Please give credit, when due.

I don't think the world leaders praising him are dumb.
Another question some of us should ask ourselves is: if the results were the other way round, what would have been the outcome?

For now lets just enjoy this peace and move forward as a country.

That said , Let him leave with the few ounces of reputation he has left, opening threads like this one is bound to back fire, he's no longer the president of Nigeria , as such , his contract with Israeli spy agency is null and void , People will talk anyhow , myself inclusive

And BELOW is a product of his transformation

The truth is, when a person is not liked, whatever he does will be criticized. Those mentioning America, ICC, Obama, Cameron, I have one question for them: what have these persons and institutions done to Robert Mugabe all these while he has refused to let go of power in Zimbabwe? What have they done to other African leaders who have refused to let go of rulership in their country? I believe that no matter what Jonathan had done, he would still be up for critism.

You are right. Jonathan is not a hero. I almost got carried away by his supposed noble gesture in the euphoria of the moment but I realize now that he did what he felt he had to do to save his own skin.
