At an Emergency meeting of the Global Youth Forum held in Port Harcourt Rivers state, it unanimously resolved that president Goodluck Johnathan as a matter of urgency declare STATE OF EMERGENCY in Rivers state.
We are worried that the rate of killings in the state have left residents to live with fears. We received reports of the murder of APC supporters and a Tradtional ruler who is a chieftain of the APC.
We condemn this. we condemn it, we condemn it. this is barbaric as we call on the president to immediately direct the security agencies in the state to unravel the perpetrators of this dastardly act.
We strongly believe that the declaration of a state of emergency with reduce the violence that will occur during and after the Gubernatorial election.
Politics must not be a do or die affairs. We therefore call on all youths of the state too be vigilant and never allow themselves to be used by politicians to unleash mayhem in the state.
We also wish to appeal to the security agencies not to be partisan, they must work hard to protect the lives and properties of the people of the state.

Declaring a state of emergency will curtail violence during and after the governorship election and as well reduce election malpractices and irregularities as witnessed during the presidential election.
we are all aware that there was no election in most part of the state during the presidential election.
If adequate measures are not taken ugently, i fear that Rivers state will boil.

I agree with you, but will this killings and unrest bring rays of light in the midst of our predicament. is it true that at the end one party will remain blameless and the other blame worthy. Here you are entitled o your own opinion. but all i know is that the God who created us without us cannot save us without us

thrilling, just some days to the election the judiciary/National assembly disagree on the use of millitary as security for elections even at some flash points. And now u want GEJ to declare SOI, during his last days in office. Well the millitary will stand on the same role they played on that of the presidency period.
